HK Yak 55 3D/EPP plane FPV

I've flown a lot of aircraft FPV.
Some are easy to fly, some are hard. Some too slow, some too fast!
Some complicated to setup or launch, some easy.

This Yak is cheap and simple. And it's simplicity and cheapness makes it fun!

It's one of the easiest planes I have ever flown or launched.

No OSD, No GPS to wait for, no complex wiring, and very easy to launch and fly.

And because it's a cheap plane with no expensive electronics, I don't mind taking a few more risks, like low flying, or close to trees. If it crashes or gets lost it will be simple and cheap to repair or replace.

Plus it'll be safer to do close fly-bys to myself!!

Running the video off the flight lipo. Lots of ESC noise at the mo. I have just fitted a little 500mAH separate lipo for the video, and waiting for winds to calm before testing.

I wouldn't mind fitting more powerful motor soon too

1800mah flight pack
500mah video pack
400mw 1.2G video Tx
Security cam 2000 camera spectrum AR7000
Turnighy 1100kv motor
10x4.7 prop

gives me about 5.5mins

great for loops and rolls!

will upload a little vid

Definitely recommend this plane and setup for beginners

Almost impossible to fail a launch.
Very slow stall speed so easy to belly land.
Easy to fly
Easy to build, and crash repair (very crash proof!)

so here's first vid.

Maybe it's not great to watch, but FPV (for me) is all about the actual experience, not making pretty movies
There's a some aerobatics in there and a little low flying

Heres another one, had my first flights with the FPV Yak today. Its a fun, simple plane that you can throw around easily. Would be an excellent fpv trainer. Even thinking about doing some fpv combat with this one!!

Glad to hear another pilot into EPP profile plane. I'm flying a HK Tristania Epp and looking forward to get a Yak 55 profile too. Thanks for sharing.

Here my videos of Epp:
FPV Mad Chase - HK Tristania EPP (4 min 36 sec)

FPV Park Fly - HK Tristania EPP (8 min 16 sec)

Hi Mr Double,
What's your motor and prop?

I'm not an expert on choice. I sort of make educated guess.
My first motor was fine. Then I got greedy and put in a 420W motor. It can now climb vertical, unlimited, like a rocket! However, flight times are really short. 3mins!

So I will put the old motor back in which gives me about 5mins

I also thought about dog fights (sort of). Would be cool to have a partner fly, and do really close formation flying, and maybe see if we can clip wings or chop wings with the props

hazchem, motor is the NTM 35-30 1400kv and prop is a 9x4.7 slo fly. Not enough power though, need to run a bigger prop. I think the current setup gives around 300w.

What size flight pack are you running? Cant imagine youre too happy with 3-5 mins. Im running a bigger 3S 2200. Had to modify the frame and mount the battery under the lower spar. Already had a moment with it, forgot to connect the ailerons and had a funny take off/crash. The thing i like about this plane is you can fix it with CA and thats why it would be good for close formation/combat.

I've demoted this back to non-FPV / my (basic) 3D trainer.
I just got the HK V70 Zephyr for FPV.
Gear is fitted, need to fly it soon
