I am not yet at "home" to pick it up. Maybe in another week. So I have still time to order other components if you guys find some to be incompatible

The new video speaks for this type of stabilisation. I am not sure however I will fly this quad over people (I am sure I won't). 2kg from 10-20m on the head can do a lot of damage. Take care.

Today I received a parcel from Lithuania, the contents look promising, let´s see if I can get this up an running.

Until now, I already built and flew quite a number of copter so far, I was not able to get that video-performance I would like to have, but I really love this idea to have some sort of physical stabilization.

The plan is to build the quad with a Naza, and if everything works as ecpected and (if it is not getting too heavy) switch to WKM afterwards.

best regards

Ferdinand

Hello guys,

Last week I come back from one of the biggest RC models expo/show Intermodellbau 2012 in Germany, Dortmund. There was many well-known firms such as JR, Multiplex, PowerBox, Horizon Hobby, Hitec, etc. presented their new products. Also there was possible to purchase a models of the necessary materials and components. One of the hall was flying show, it was held from Wednesday to Sunday and show program repeating 4 times per day. There was about 90 000 visitors. There was possible to see a Ecilop Easy demonstration flights. Also I had two small accidents. Fist one was, when I hit a plastic lamp with propellers. Fortunately Ecilop not fall down. Another accident was when my old battery connector pulled out from battery and Ecilop fall down from 4 meters. Well I can say, that landing skids is quite enough strong.

I like the main frame w/booms without all the camstab stuff. Main frame is alu+carbon, riveted together right? Do you think you can make those available for cheap? Just enough bits to make a quad. Not sure if I want the 'equipment platform' thingy or not.

right ho... made some progress with the Ecilop. Have it flying and have even recorded some OK (not perfect) video. A couple of useful notes for those who are building these:

It seems to me that you need to set up the tilt/roll servos directly with with flight controller gimbal controllers first, then independently of the FC, set up the two gyros (one at a time) before putting the whole lot together. Only doing things this way was I able to get things to work close to how they should. I think this detail needs to be added to the manual as it had me stumped for a while.

Also, at this stage I am not sure that the Naza is a great controller for this gimbal. The output rate is a bit lacking, and results in a bit of a lag between when the drone moves and the gimbal servos react. The gyros might be able to compensate for this but I haven't got there yet...

Sorry I didn't see an updated list... just mention of the one 8910 servo. Is that correct?

Looks like that one is the best overall though.

thanks!

The signal delay may be caused by the noise removal algorithm. Noise
removal makes the motion of the camera smoother, but causes delays. Because
of noises, the camera may get jerky on a regular servo gear. In case of
Ecilop, a slightly noisy signal is better than a delayed one. On Ecilop,
slight vibrations of the servo gear are not a big problem, since they are
compensated for by inertia.

Ecilop can use cheap servo gears, but the difference between cheap and
expensive options does exist. MG-930 servos have been tested and they work.
In order to stop inciting people to buy cheaper options, I changed my
equipment recommendations and updated the FAQ document.
