You will have to search this thread to find out why, it's all in here (you need to understand how gyro's work in the 2 different modes)

I just answered your question..

can you tell me the settings you did with your mini mem?
For example RUD-GAIN? Default is 100. Is this okay.

Did you go with all default values?

Jelico just said you can use new one's but they are inconsistent so you need to sort through them.

i had 7 new 401b's. and only 1 was good. managed to source an old one, and it was great straight away.

get 2 that match and you have a sick setup. went through a couple of servos to find 2 good ones as well.

Rant.

So now I just order 7 or 12 of anything mechanical from HK and hope I find one good one? Do these guys even consider that this they are making can cause mayhem when it fails? What confidence can you have that even when you have found the 1 /7 good component that it will keep working?

We all seem to be very polite about this.

Well the hard part is there doesn't seem to be a better option than a properly working 401b. I would buy two $70 gyros if I knew they would perform as well as the good set of 401s

To be totally honest - you can get most gyros to work OK, but the HK401's seem to be the easiest way to get that super solid "Zenmuse" style locked in look.

Aleksey recommends the Turnigy mems gyros, and he got it to work extremely well in his earlier prototypes (better than HK401s). I just couldnt get to the same performance as my HK401s. Most likely it was due to something in my set up. The advanced gyros have a ton of heli specific features that, while making them great heli gyros, dont actually help us in this application. If I had more time on my hands I would try a bunch of different gyro combinations and settings on the mems gyros and see if I could get them to work better than the HK401's. I am sure it is possible.

Turnigy mems gyro settings

I am going to build one Ecilop in the next month and reading bout Gyro and a bunch of threads of all the minimal adjustments, tricks, tips...

Anybody has an Ecilop with fine settings for Gyro/Servo, and maybe post them for the community.. I bet more people will be encourage to try Ecilop for AP if tips, tricks and nice settings were available easily, just my o2. The harder part for this marvel to work seems to be in the settings and combos that work, cause is not piece of cake getting to a that "Z15" feeling.

So anybody?

Turnigy mems/MKS --

HK401b/TG930 (hot glue, foam, lucky pair) ---

Yep I got that from the thread... What I meant was the settings of those combos, for example.. there is only one for HK401b:

I just found one with HK401b:

HK401B gyros (gyro gain is about 80%, no delay, gyros running in digital mode)

Gimbal settings on Naza and HK401b

F2 Max 1000, 0 –1000
F1 Max 1000, 50 –1000

Pitch gain =16
Roll Gin =20
Speed =3

.....

None with MEMS/MKS combo...

I know they must be some how specific to each Ecilop but a good starting point helps I guess..

Cheers!..

One doubt, could it be possible to use say one Multiwii controller/servo on gimbal function, maybe a custom program on arduino for it. Or am I saying something nonsense?

ok. cant help with the mems/mks

but with the 401 and 930,
yep as you say around 80% gain rate mode, digital mode.

F1 & F2 you just want 1000 0 -1000
the 50 is only if your servo is slightly out. you use the middle value to adjust the gimbal to perfectly centre without changing the servo. better to get it physically right on the servo though.

my pitch and roll gain are 18 i think, and speed 1
