Also, there is more vibration with my set up (14 inch props) with the PJ760 than with the NEX-5N, probably to do with the camera being mounted by the tripod screw rather than the lens mount clamp on the NEX-5N.

Overall, I've not followed up any more with the experiment as the PJ760 was expensive and would be pretty fragile in a crash or even heavy landing compared with the NEX-5N which is super tough.
Thanks, that information is very valuable, so i can concentrate to others problems. I'm looking to use the PJ760 mostly because the use of Zoom. Some people are using the zoom while fly, that was a great funcion to AP and AV.

I will look to other solution frame and gimbal to use with PJ760.

Thanks for that link. I have never seen one with the angled plug, gives the swinging camera the needed clearance.

just got some new gyros.

Old style hk401b with glue mod... totally changed my rig. SO SO much better than the new hk401b.
easy to setup and works great. winner.
Also tried an E-tech G105 which also works well.

Both work better than new 401b

OK, so much for the 401b purchases then. Anyone got a few old ones to sell? I found just 1 E-tech G105 on ebay uk and have snapped that up just in case...

hm, I just opened all my four 401 gyros and guess what.. all have the new design...
Weird thing is that I got quite nice results with these gyros.
So does it really make that big difference??

just a note, i would put the LED boom on one the motor booms like shown on the ecilop site. allows the gimbal more travel.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

In an effort to relocate my HDMI converter, I realized that at a cost of 20 grams you can use the alternate camera mount as a backpack. I just had to add a spacer on the tripod mount screw.

I decided to try stronger & weaker springs to see what happens (currently running pre-update Ecilop with standard springs). Result with my setup (new HK401b + MG930) was that the stronger springs (i put cable ties around last 3 rings of spring to tighten them up) made oscillation and horizon wobble worse. I then tried weakend springs and definitely got a better result, in fact almost useable footage...will have to order some proper ones. I think the weaker springs allow you to run a slightly higher gain before servo oscillation happens. However, I still can't run sufficient roll gain to compensate for frame roll without causing gimbal roll oscillation.

Pretty good for a first, way better than my first ! There's quite a lot of horizon wobble, which I've learnt is the hardest thing to dial out. I'm still trying....The sand must play havoc, do you have to vacuum it after each session?

You could get that 20gms back by removing the HDMI casing and phono plugs. Reasonably easy to do, there's a good tutorial somewhere on RCGroups but can't find it right now
