BMI Arrow - Sold as Aerodyne PT14 - Glider 1400

It looks like it should take about 1-2 hours to build since I will be documenting it along the assembly path. And, here is the build pics. It is pretty simple. I grade the instructions a "C+". There are a few gotcha's waiting for you that I will mention later. It is late and I need to get some sleep.

Comparison to the AXN Clouds Fly-
AXN CF:
Wing Span: 1290mm
Length: 860mm
Wing Area: 22.6dm2

BMI Arrow:
Wing Span: 1400mm - 8.5% larger
Length: 920 - 6.98% larger
Wing Area: 28.6dm2 - 27% larger
Spar - 34" 8mm .5mm wall

Motor Specs (Static on a workbench):
AXN CF-
Motor-Stock - 2100Kv
Prop - 5 x 5E
15.09 Ap
10.65 Vm
166.5 Wp

BMI-Arrow
Motor CF2812/7 - 2200Kv
Prop - 4.5 x 4.5E
12.15Ap
11.58Vm
141.4Wp

It looks like the stock AXN-CF motor is a bit more stout than the stock BMI-Arrow motor. Interesting....

This plane is an exact clone of a plane that has been out for ~2 years:
http://www.bmi-models.com/#en/12630_-_Arrow/6/3893. In fact, the name on the box (and the decals) have Arrow on them.

Apparently, this one is made by Citix Phoenix RC Models. Thanks to shiggins for his research to find this:
http://www.phoenixrcmodel.com/Glider...8Arrow%29.html

The BIG NEWS - The plane is NOT an ARF. It is an RR. EVERYTHING is included except a receiver - Even a 1000mah LiPo with a charger. How cool it that? So, My net cost is 61.87/ea. Heck of deal.

Now that I have 2 of them with all the pieces/parts/documentation, here is the deal. Look at post #1. For whatever reason, Aerodyne is selling it as a "1400 Glider". Well, that is nonsense. It comes in a box marked "Arrow" with everything in it called Arrow. The box has no manufacturer. So, I guess anyone can be the "manufacturer". In this case, it is Aerodyne (aka scaleflying.com). I have no idea why they went to so much trouble to disguise it and give us just a teeny-tiny picture to try to figure out what it is. The jury is back in-It IS a "BMI Arrow" manufactured by Phoenixtech is the best I can come up with. If anyone comes up with any new or additional information, please let me know and I will update this post as required. Finally, enjoy the pictures attached. They are from box #1.

One of the contributors to this thread bought one and commented on it.

Following that link reveled the following link from about 2 years ago - which is the exact clone of the PT14:

So, it is a rebirth of that arrow. I still do not know who the manufacturer is for sure. Right now, I suspect it is J-Power in China.
Thanks to all.
AJ
UPDATE: The actual manufacturer is PhoenixTech - distributed by Bmi Models - to Aerodyne (aka scaleflying.com). It is interesting that they (scaleflying.com) is selling it as a "scale" airplane. There is nothing scale about it. I hope I got that right now.

Ordered on 4/25/12

From another thread - Posted on 4/25:
Quote:
Well, after all that research, I bought one (really, 2) ($123.73 delivered to my doorstep). I will start a new thread for the plane. I wonder what the name of it is? On the site, it is just called "Glider 1400" - very unimaginative. At 1400mm wing span, it is longer than the Clouds Fly (1290mm) and the EZ* (1370mm). So, I guess that makes it an EZ* clone based on wing span alone. I will keep you posted on a new thread. I am sort of drifting too far off topic to continue the discussion on this plane.

Update - Here is the receipt that they sent me. It looks like it is called a PT14ARF - Glider 1400. So, I will start a thread reflecting that.
