ALL TRUE!

Sito's craft is a special purpose craft with ground roll capacity not required here.

Theses suggestions reduce weight, parts count, cost, and complexity. Additionally a larger prop increase thrust to weight ratio. All improvements.

COG above the prop is the way to go, as well as a large slower turning prop, the only drawback is increased counter-motor torque from the larger prop mass, but that is offset by the additional thrust.

The first step was to make it fly with simple helicopter gyro.
In that way there is no controller that mix the surface.
So Innerbreed have think that the top will be controll but lower will act as Yaw or contarotation.

I made some large edits to my last post. Please review.

OpenAero working on a cheap KK board is the way to go, use the Mems gyro add-on, which is cheap and easy and HappySundays is working the firmware as of yesterday.

Ok i can now say it.

I have confirmation from Alex (AlexInParis)
He will do a Sphere configuration for us in that project.
So a Multiwii controller will be use.

The Major problem with nearly a vtol aircraft is having sufficient separation between the COG and the pitch and roll controls (p/r) vanes, in fact if they are too close together they will work opposite the intended direction.

If you use 4 lower vanes for p/r and install the motor upside down like the CrazyBall and stack your flight control computer then battery on top, this will move the CoG further from the p/r vanes. You could install 2 yaw vanes just below the prop, thus using 3 simple mems gyros.

It will hover well, but have poor horizontal high speed flight.

Dialfonzo,

How are these parts constructed, are you using some sort of 3d printing?

Nice workmanship.

Those flaps are made out of 1.5mm G10 plates (Fiberglass)
They are CNC

Thanks a lot..

Paco,

That is a beautiful design. An excellent arrangement of components.

Can you tell us the CoG location please?

Have you flown the craft yet?

Thanks,

Kelly

Hello!
The Center of Gravity should be really low, i do that by putting the battery in the lowest part of the sphere.
While experimenting i had to put the motor in the lower part, vertically up.
I have a 30 second flight
It crashed.
Mainly because of a bad pilot. In this model, while slowing the trottle the effectivity of the aeleron and elevator are lowered. My mistake was that I lowered the rudder under the critical, and the control crashed.
Now I'm going to undergo more experiments.
)))

Paco,

Can you please define the CoG location with respect to the Merdian > center< of the craft either in percent or millimeters, please include the diameter of the craft.

Thank you for your data, it is most helpful.
