I'm flying these:

Gives around 8 minutes of solid flying and unlike what the flitetest guys say, they DO fit pretty easy but you do have to think about where things go....
I admit that I have overspecced the C rating to 45/90 but learned the hardway about voltage sag when I got impatient about flying the zep, tried 2200 nanotechs in it and had 2 total brown outs in 2 days. Both resulted in death spirals and extensive repairs....

I tested the battery cells voltage and they all came in at 3.8v. Is this low flight time common? I really don't have fun flying something for only 3 minutes! I tried to fit in a 3000mah 4s but it just wouldn't fit in!

Any suggestions on gaining more flight time?

Also, can I lower the voltage cutoff to about 2.75-3.0v per cell? And if so can someone tell me how to do it on the esc?

Cheers,

I wouldn't go below 3.2V, and never below 3V.

I fit in a 4000 3S battery no problem.

This aircraft really needs a regular pre-flight inspection like a helicopter or it will burn you. I thought mine was ready to go for this weekend when I noticed one of the AILE horns had come partially unstuck. I re-glued all the horns. Then this morning I was reading about V-Tail differential RUD/ELEV mixing when I noticed a split in my ELEV hinge. Now repaired and taped. Now I cant help staring at my thrust tube wondering whether the whether the extra top end speed is worth the risk of having reduced bottom end thrust for take off after my failed launch during the week. I'm starting to think Hobbyking really did hit the mark with the power plant they went with, in that it doesnt offer any more speed than the wing can handle, whilst still maintaining enough thrust for launch.

I use the rudder very rarely, partly because of the way it wags, but after reading this article I'll like seen if i could programe the RUD>ELEV mix so it would carve into rudder turns like the article report V-Tails can.

The recommended battery is a 3300+ mah, 3s. You shouldn't expect the same flight time on a 2200. And it's been said that a 4s will take the plane just over the threshold where the wings will start to flutter.

Do any of you use the Deans type connector? I really like them.

Like it a lot! Definitely has the speed. Also has a great "punch" through the air - even off the power. Inverted flight is a cinch. The sound it makes is definitely unique.

As I stated before, dont skimp on the batteries. 3300 to 4000 DO fit in the battery compartment with some attention to the layout. I have had to glue the wing on due to the 2 death spirals I experienced when flying batteries too small.....The servos require glueing in AND flight surfaces will at some stage require proper hinging (probably sooner rather than later depending on how agressive you fly).

AND I would definitely buy the ARF version in the future if this one gets beyond repair.
