Shaun, thanks for the pics. Looks like a well packaged plane. Few parts, so easy, quick build.

PS. Mine is just "shipped". Could take up to a week to just get out of China. That's OK. By then, Shaun should give us all the "lo-down" on it.

This thing will take a 4s battery without any other modification? Won't fry anything?

To Canada, I selected air parcel also. Tracking # starts with EE. I don't care how they send it. I picked the cheapest method.

So yours did indeed come through EMS?? I'm happy but then i'm not happy, I was anticipating waiting at least three weeks allowing me time to decide which batteries to get.
Oh well :-)

What do u guys think of a gens ace 3300mah 25c vs a Turnigy nano-tech 3300mah 3S 35~70C ? Or should I go with higher capacity?

Any suggestions for a 4s setup?

I'm pretty sure with a 4s, it will be too much for the esc. I think current draw will go up at least 25%

Additionally many esc's can't handle 4s with their built in BEC.

I think I may switch to an 80 amp opto esc and a cheap UBEC.

No, all I said was that it will fit.....after that, you are on your own if you really insist on going down that road.

thrust

...extremely noisy

For those of you that live in cities, there goes the neighborhood..., seriously, stay at least 500 m from the next houses. They will call the police.

That being my first edf, I'm not a specialist, and would though rate it "impressive", but that was just a short run on a single 3S 2200mah 20c Zippy.

I'll make a few tests later this evening: amp draw, thrust, and thr. velocity etc.

This week-end is gonna be so cool...

I forgot about that one: it runs extremely smooth, no vibrations.

My first measurings:

About 112 km/h thrust velocity (turnigy anemometer)
Watts Up reads on a (rather battered) 3S 3000mah 20C Zippy:

44 Amps and 460 Watt in, battery voltage immediately sagging to 10,6 Volts.

Healthy screaming sound, couldn't sense any vibrations holding the fuselage in my hands on full throttle.

More to come, but for thrust measurings, I'll put something over my ears, the noise is bonecrushing , no kidding...

hmm i expectd a greater exit velocity.......then again, it is static, and with saggy voltage. I can't wait to see the thrust results. Praying for unlimited vertical on this edf

Any of you buyers have one by chance?
If you had one of those would you want the V70?
I've been flying a Dynamic S for about 4 months and have just ordered the Zephyr.

I expect the Zephyr to be faster but the Dynamic is no slouch and will thermal in good conditions which I expect the Z will not do so readily. I use 1300 mill. batts. in the Dynamic with an APC 13 X 7 prop and find this gives the best combo of performance and endurance. I'll try the 3300 mill batts. in the Z but will probably go with the 1300 mostly. The weight savings is noticeable in climb rates, etc. It's important to have the 30C-40C discharge rating as speced. 20C won't cut it with a lot of WOT and endurance suffers. My Sky Lipos are rated at 30 C continuous, 60 C burst.
