Don't forget the VCTRC 3GX. This is similar to the HB800, but with a better led layout and it flies very well. It's available from several sites and from eBay:

So why it that a problem? My $224 MSH iKon has a plastic case. A $300 mini blue vBar has a plastic case.

Personally I prefer it with the plastic case. It has made it lighter and less prone to hard stop issues (shaking).

Someone posted on HobbyKing, in the comments section of the Turnigy 3D-H, that they had flashed the HB800 with MB v3.0.8 and it worked. He said that versions later than v3.0.8 wouldn't work, because they changed the firmware to look for the serial number. He also said he used the MB software to do it.

Interestingly the guy was German. He has 52 positive votes, so he wasn't a newbie to HobbyKing. HobbyKing has now removed the posts.

Does anyone know any more about this?

I have the v3.0.8 firmware, but I don't want to brick a good HB800. Does anyone have a faulty one that they would be prepared to try it on?

Let me know if this works guys. One thing I wish v1 had was tail to collective comp. I can also imagine how much better the cyclic feel is as well.
