Thunder AC6 Data Log Software through USB Setup Tutorial.

Hello Everyone,

I just received my thunder changer AC-6 from hobbypartz.com $44.70

http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html

I was just going to Test it out while I waited on the rest of my equipment, so I snagged one of my roommates 1s batteries and am giving it a run. Well the computer software is not super easy to get working. So here is a quick tutorial.

In order to use the USB interface follow these simple steps.

(This was done on windows Vista 64, but other windows OS should be similar.)

Step 1:

Install this software:
http://site.hobbypartz.com/ThunderAC6/setup.exe

after completing the software install, do not launched the monitor.exe and continue to step 2.

Step 2: Install the dotNetFX40 this file is found under your start menu, all programs, thunder, motioner (I think this is supposed to be monitor, but it says motioner.)

Step 3: Install the device drivers from silicon labs. The link is below. (make sure to choose the correct OS version.
http://www.silabs.com/products/mcu/P...CPDrivers.aspx

Step 4: Power up the charger, and plug it into an open USB port.

Step 5: Follow the onscreen add new device wizard instructions to install device software. It should automatically find the drivers that you just installed from silicon labs.

Step 5b: You may want to go to your device manager in your control panel, go to:
Ports (COM/LPT), look next to the silicon Labs CP210x and note the com port (mine is com 3.)

Once this is complete, go to step 6.

Step 6: Well your still not ready to go, but you're getting close. Press the Red Batt. Type / Stop button 6 times or until the menu says "USER SET PROGRAM ->" press the green button.

Press the yellow Inc. button 4 times; the display should say "USB/Temp Select" press the green Start/Enter button. The "Temp Cut-Off" option should now be flashing. Press the yellow Inc button. The flashing option should change to USB Enable. Press the green Start Enter button again. Press the Batt. Type Stop button several times to return to the main screen.

The device is now properly configured and ready to work.

Step 7: Launch the Thunder Charger Monitor software. It is called Monitor.exe and looks like a battery. It's located at all programs -> thunder -> motioner -> monitor.exe

Step 8: At the top ensure that the correct "Serial Port" is selected, if you do not remember or know the port return to step 5b. (Mine is 3.)

Step 9: Plug in the battery of your choice, and start the charging sequence as normal.

Step 10: On the top of the software click connect.

Step 11: Enjoy a lot of neat graphs and what not.

Hope this helps...
