EDF fan balancing
Cant seem to find any info on this. Just replaced the 70mm ducted fan unit, motor and ESC in a hobby lobby thrust vectoring F16. There seems to be a little vibration at midrange on the new fan. Should I balance it? To do that do I balance the same way as on a propeller? How do you add/subtract weight without weakening the fan?

Hi David
I have built a few EDF's and found any noticeable imbalance will cause the destruction of your fan/shroud eventually. Here's a link to the method I use (clock method). Cheers Eric http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=130843 |
