Hi there,
I have intentionally omitted wages as you will note that the envelopes come ready made, and considering that I have factored in the production cost of the gondola and fins it should not be an issue,
this is a proper estimate of labor, do correct me if I am wrong.
sealing a 36 foot 9 gore pvc/pu film envelope using rf welding takes 12 man hours or 1 1/2 working days
Making 4 fins with pre cut balsa ribs, carbon rods, depron foam and monokote takes 3 hours X 4 fins= 6 hours or another half working day
Shrouds are a intellectual property secret that involves cutting the tops of buckets (he he!)
Putting together the gondola, rotating unit, wiring, motors and batteries just takes 4 hours ( I'm sure that any rc modeler worth his salt with a decent set of tools will be able to do it in far less time.
The space required to build a 36 foot airship is a comfortable 2 car garage of dimensions 25X20 feet= 500 sq foot area. ( I see no reason to build a hangar the size of the airship as inflation can be done outside) Garage rental runs at around 600$ USD a month for a 2 car garage of around 500 sq ft
And keeping wages at a junior aircraft technician's salary of 40$ USD an hour ( I'm sure you will agree that such qualifications are not required) you still land up with under 1000$ USD as wages.
I still cannot figure out the justification, I wonder what I'm missing in the equation.
