I'm still salivating over the rendering posted earlier. Looks like the perfect radio.
Similar thoughts here. X9D will not substitute my modded 9x's with frsky module but the x12d looks like a perfect step up in the future. Considering the price is reasonable (compared to mainstream brands at least)...

Yah I am also wondering about availability and pricing. Currently I use a JR7202 with FRSky internal module. Now my son wants to start flying DLG's so this seems like a great time to get a couple new radios.

Looks ok and if it has all the voice alarms etc I want it.
Quality gimbals would be nice, hope they not too cheap feeling!
Model match on dsm2 module would be good as well as model match on frsky rx.

Now if the X9D could accept data transfers from my 9303, that would be the ultimate!!

OK, OK, OK. I know I went waaaay off the deep end but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.....

Still, a great looking radio.

I hope it has a SD card slot and LiPO battery as well.

That's why posted, to have feedback.
One thing that struck me immediately with the layout of the 12XD was the on/off switch position.
On the photograph shown it seems to lie flush with the case, very close to the elevator trim tab. Given the issues with the Hitec Aurora 9 that some people have switched off the transmitter while trying adjust trims this looks like this might be a similar problem with the 12XD.

Regards a lipo, I would think lifepo4 would be a better bet, much safer and longer lifespan then a lipo and quicker to charge then nimh, although I have the dx6i and that uses 4 nimh aa batts and I never had an issue, very easy actually cause I can swap out 4 aa batts in about 10 secs and always have my controls ready with some spare batts on charge!
A generous battery compartment would be the answer so we could choose what battery we want, but NOT lipo cause they are just too dangerous in my opinion to have inside a tx which will be stored inside my house and be holding in my hands for hours.

Mode would be easy to change I'm sure.
It's only a case of swapping over a spring more or less, the channel assignment will be up to the user anyway.

I think a LiPo Tx batt has its place, especially with DLG folks that want a lighter Tx, but for the average pilot, you'd want NiMh or LiFe, mainly due to volumetric energy density. If you take, say, a 7.4v 1000mAh LiPo, in the same space you can fit a 7.2v 2500mAh NiMh pack, and I don't know the numbers on a LiFe pack, but I imagine they are close to LiFe.

Why LiPo ?

LiPo don't like to be stored fully charged ... so keep half discharged TX is not convenient ....

I think NiMh Low Discharge is the best option here.

So .. I hope to see a normal AA battery compartment ... or even better ... provide a 6 AA battery holder, and on the same time allow a free space for people that want to use a different battery. Mainly I hope for 2S or 6NiMh battery on the TX

Sorry guys, when I listed LiPO, I was meaning generically as any Li type battery. LiFE would be good or any of those other kinds out there.

NiMH, is OK but I want a light weight easy to maneuver radio. As long as I can hold it without hitting any of the butons yet have enough reach to do the sticks and top switches would be great!!! SOme of the new radios have something that either is too fat or has something that hits the fat pad of the hand and can be uncomfortable - to me.

I think LiFe battery would be best in the transmitter. I switched my Futaba 7C to a LiFe battery from HK, one of the best things I've done for the transmitter, next to adding an FrSKY module to it.

Lipo also don't like it very much when you fully discharge them, I know I have left my transmitter on all night after fiddling on the bench.
