How else than traditionally, including 9th, not only 1-8 ?
Why would be provided 9 servo ports if not for this purpose ?

to guarantee both markets, SBus and Traditionalists, can use the same receiver.

Most planes still do not need more than 4 or 6 servos(if you include flaps, landing gear 4 servo wings, etc.). Unless SBus servos are cheaper or are the only ones available, I do not know if everyone want to use one or the other.

I'm excited to see an SBUS wing servo in the line up. That was a surprise to me. I'll be jumping onto those for my gliders. Having a single connection into the wing is great.

For those that say SBUS is a single point of failure, well, guess what, we have a lot of single points of failure in our planes already. My glider wings only have a single power source now, so nothing is changed there. Heck, I have a single power source feeding the entire airborne radio system.

I'm looking forward to doing away with all of the soldering on wing harnesses!

Renato,

On the x8r I only see channels 1-8 as conventional. In any case, say I have 14 non sbus servos on my model, what would be the correct way to connect it to x8r, given that my transmitter supports pxx...

I'm not quite sure if the servos are actually KST products, there is another MKS cloner and I'm not talking about Blue Bird here.

Anyway, I found it positive that SBUS seem to get wider support and becomes more or less an accepted standard

Also any clues on what Frsky smart dashboard is?

nevermind found the answer:
FrSky Smart Dashboard will be coming soon – FLD-02 upgrade version, with big OLED screen, smart port enabled, SD card for data logger, speak module installed, etc.

Yes, 9th was in my mind a mixture of X8R and L9R, wishful thinking maybe, why issue a radio named with 9, and not providing a 9ch receiver in the basic combo...

Nope - I do not think they are rebranded KSTs. The D12MB servo is totally different case style. The D25MA does look similar, much like other MKS styled servos. I'm excited to check them out! Either way, I'm not aware of another servo in this class that supports SBUS.

It will be a small market at first, but I think SBUS will start seeing regular use since FrSky is making it affordable.

Metal servos are the way to go especially for the higher torque stuff, hear to many stories of servos jamming up because of the hole for the axle pin in the top cover elongates. Even very respected brand names.

One of the main problems with those cheap MG995 and 996 servos.

Wayne,
So what's the eta on the newly announced gear? Pricing set?

I'm new to SBUS. Does this mean a full house wing will only need one connection?

Regarding the new Tx, are they saying a late Feb/early March launch?

"☆ A special section for FrSky transmitters will be accessible after the China Spring Festival."
