Whoops!
Another FPV newbie story

Went to do my third FPV flight with my SkyWalker today. The forecast said winds around 13 mph so I thought to my self that it would not be a problem for the SkyWalker. I took off checked that the RTH was working and began my flight. I've only been out 700 meters so I decided to fly 1km. I reached 1km woohoo! I turn on RTH and it starts to come home. Around 600 meters the video goes white. I asked my spotter if he saw the plane. After a few seconds my spotter saw the plane it was a spec in the air. He slowly managed to bring it down but the plane was extremely hard to handle. It seemed very nose heavy and we still had no image from the video transmission. Barely missing the trees the Skywalker touched down unharmed. We went to inspect the plane, both the motor and the camera were gone. They fell off the plane in mid air . I think I mounted the motor wrong. But I still can not figure out how the camera fell off.

Wow!

You are one lucky guy. The motor broke off mid flight and it still came home?

Yeah, I used CA to glue all of the parts of my SW except the motor
mount because when I tried with CA it broke off in a minor crash involving a
bench. Now with the epoxy it's on there really good.

I suspect that when the motor shook its way off the mount it rattled the whole
plane and since your camera was mounted so high up on that P&T it shook it
off as well.

i used 5min epoxy under the motor mount with screws going into the foam.... then I used hot glue around the edge of the motor mount..

I used a Turnigy 3530 motor with out any issues

The motor mount on my SW is held on with ZAP thick CA and has no extra screws/pegs/whatever
going into the foam. The mount itself has withstood crashes that have ripped the entire
back of the wing pylon off. If you had so much vibration that it shook both the motor and
the camera off the plane, then something is seriously out of balance.

Did you have any vibration when you were flying with your goggles/monitor ? Did you record the footage? If you did you should wack it up

gorilla glue would probably be better for the motor, it isn't as brittle as CA.

I mounted mine using a standard X shaped motor mount cut to size of the wooden disk. It is screwed on with extra long screws that penetrate into the foam, then I put glue on the wood and protruding screws and stuck it in.

When it crashed the big block of foam came off with it and that's all you can ask for
