I kinda like CF better. But thanks for that link, interesting Align style copy tail they have there...except it looks like in the photo it sits on a 45* angle on the heli? Check where the tail fin would normally go

I did some more load testing today...I'm thinking 3 600's might be fine afterall now. Looks like the advertised KV and the 'in use' KV's didnt match too much on this current motor I'm using. After bumping up the headspeed to the CC esc governer's preferred speed/actual throttle % range, that bog o' rama stopped. The headspeed was a little too low for how that gov likes to work, giving the bog impressions. Amazing how an extra 50 rpm make things much better (running 1400 now).

Anyway, I used the logger function, and the 'power out' says all is well running 2 550's by a large margin. I then piled in just over 2 lbs of batteries to get the flight weight over 8 lbs to see what would happen...still good 'power out' levels on full collective (within the tail's ability to hold). So I'm guessing motor wise it should be dandy pushing 3 blades if one were to extrapolate the guessed load of 3 blades, lol. It was interesting the fairly large difference in running amperage adding those 2 lbs to the heli. Like 5 amps more...but the CC logger reads rather inaccurately, but still quite a comparison between the 2 on the graphs.

Might make for one sweet 600...nice and light.

Oh yeah, bumping the headspeed up to 1400 gave some noticable betterment in flight manners, I recommend it . So basically, try for 1400 on 550mm blades hauling around 6lbs of scaler.

Looks like my T500 into a 3 bladed 600 size conversion is coming together sooner than later with a 20% off sale at heliworld this week (for the needed .50 size AS350 to be used in this).

Anyway...parts on the way: HK500 frame (the CF and aluminum kind), some MKS servos, Scorp 3026 880kv motor (get the Protos version and replace the shaft...some $60 or so cheaper than the Scorp branded one ), RotorTech blades 600mm scale set of 3, along with a couple other things to round out the plan.

To use on-hand electronics of a BeastX, CC esc, tail servo, etc. Depending on how Black Friday goes...maybe running Vbar . Oh yeah, a Smartmodel PNP 500 size 3 blade head I also have spare around here (which uses a 8mm shaft, but can accept 12mm blades...which made me think of doing this project in the first place)

I'll make a new thread for this as the fuselage is unpainted (I'm gonna move the skid locations to where they should be on the fuselage...and it might be entertaining to see how this blows up and I'd hate to associate the 550 size conversions with my can of worms, lol

Sounds good , I too have 2 T500 helis to turn into T600 soon so I look forward to foolowing your build thread.

I've been working on the 700 LR trying to get some paint on it soon.

Pretty much done with the stretched 450 EC-145 , just need to get some final pics posted and a short flight vid.

Ummm, this is gonna be one BIG 600, lol

Bigger than my '700' Long Ranger. Dramatically bigger than my .30 size Jet Ranger running a stretched T500 in it.

Pics of the 3:

Well if you have it lined up with the main rotor of the LR , then it looks like where the tail rotor for the AS-350 will be is quite a bit shorter then the LR.

However if you just go off of physical size of the fuselage then yeah it's bigger than the LR.

What do you guess it weighs in at ?

Should make for a great project using a stretched T500 as the mechanics.

No idea on the weight, still unpacking it. Got another 8mm hole HK500 one-way sleeve? It's gonna need a Gaui mainshaft for sure

Lol.

I'll get on it maybe tonight. Been dinking around with seeing how I'll move the skid locations...front should be real easy, back not so much. The rear mounting blocks are blind-screwed, meaning they are screwed into the woodwork, then the woodwork was glued into the fuselage with the screw heads facing the bottom fiberglass. Gonna have to custom-make mountings there as I cant get the existing blocks out without tearing things up. Anyway, this is stuff for a new thread, but I'll get a rough weight piling everything onto a scale later

It's starting to resemble a helicopter, so a quick shot of my T500 turned 600 size along with its future home. Still waiting for a few bits and pieces before I start a build thread...

That certainly is one big bird, Sideways. I sat it beside a 700 and it dwarfed the 700. You can't mistake its presence in the air, though, as it is one of the most impressive medium scale helis (compared to the really big Vario's, etc.) on the market. Have fun with it.
