That one actually flew agian before the day was over. (Or maybe it was one just like it) It was a Habu 2, and know I shot some footage of it (or?) later in the day with the Canon. I'm not really sure if it was a landing or a low pass that went bad.
Today at Ackerman was just as bad wind wise (or maybe worse) than Watt Fest was yesterday.

Somewhere either before or after this one we did have a 4 boat P mono heat but it didn't get taped. I had a last place start and first place finsh, so just had to mention it.

Wind was definitely worse today at Ackerman than it was at Watt Fest yesterday. It was all I could do to hold position with the quad today and a couple of times thought I had lost it.

If you listen around the 1:15 mark you can hear the motors spinning up as I was pitching forward and applying more throttle into it to keep it from blowing down to the roofing company's parking lot.
In the meanwhile I did at least get a little boat footage. Got a nice close up of the park bench I almost put it into trying to get back on the ground too.

Got your FPV stuff yet W? I'm not overly impressed with the 5.8 set I got here a month or so ago. I finally got it all mounted on my HT-FPV this past week. (along with the Hobby King "Tiny OSD" and Naza GPS module)
The GPS works great (you could lay your tx on the ground and walk away with it engaged).
The tiny OSD seems to work pretty well too but think I may have it's GPS facing the wrong way after watching the video and seeing where it placed the flying object. The altitude reading seems pretty close on it since it showed 60 meters and we were guessing 200 feet. Voltage and amp readouts were pretty close too. I wouldn't want to rely on the video feed to fly by though. It's too in and out. Good thing I was still flying line of sight.

I'm going to pull the FPV off and try it in a foam glider to see if it a problem with it or just the way it's mounted on the quad.

HK Tiny OSD (4 min 55 sec)

Nope, haven't had time to look into it at all yet. I did manage to scratch the lens on my gopro though I was goofing around in the parking garage testing out how well the stabilized gimbal works and had to set it down in a big hurry to avoid a concrete pillar. A glue join on the gimbal let go, and the camera fell out landing lens down on concrete.

I've been wet sanding and polishing the scratches away, almost perfect now. If I can't get it perfect I'm going to contact gopro and see about a discounted upgrade to a hero3 black.

Two lessons learned... 1) stop flying like a moron with big solid objects around and 2) don't fly with the lens 100% unprotected. I've found a place that sells clear stick on protectors for the lens that would've stopped any damage, so I'll be ordering a bunch of those just in case.

Using my 41" Promise Hobby Falcon cat to test one of the Toro Beast motors. It's a 910 KV Y wind so ran it on 8s 2p with a X460 2 blade prop that has been de-tongued and back cut.
Seems to have worked out pretty well.
