Back after 3 years of not flying

Hi all' I haven't had a plane in the air for three years until today. My wife wanted to learn how to fish so I spent time with her fishing to get her interested in the sport. Now I'm retired and got the time for it all so I dug out a GWS E-Starter kit that I had lying around built it and powered it with a E-Flight park 370 4100KV brushless motor with C drive gear Phoenix 25 ESC 9070 prop and a 3 cell lipo 2100 battery.
This set up worked great on a Smooth E that I crashed out of stupidity years ago.
Today the wind was calm here in Central Pa so I took it out for the first time.
It worked great I on the other hand didn't at first. I was quite shakey for a while and over controlling and adjusting while trimming her out but after a few minutes I settled down and got her trimmed out and had a nice flight and I must say quite a nice landing. Went back later in the day and it also went fine with the exception of one of the connectors for the wing struts let go and I had to go home and glue it .

And therein lies the beauty of this hobby! Just like riding a bike, once learned, you can leave it, come back (sometimes) years later, and once the shakes have stopped, pick up where you left off.
Congratulations, and welcome back!

You got it made now !!!

Send the wife out fishing while you go flying. Come home to a fish dinner.

Doesn't get any better then that.

Thanks for the welcome backs and the attaboys and the fish dinner deal sounds good to me.

I tried to fly the e-starter this morning but I forgot to turn the power off on the TX the last time out so it is on the charger might get out later this evening.

I have a Hobby Zone Typhoon that I flew ok with nimh batteries and low rates back in the day, that will be my next adventure only with 3 cell lipos. After I get more stick time in.

After that the E-Flite Mini Ultra Stick. That one I never flew on my own I had it trimmed out and flew a few laps but never took off or landed it. That one I will wait awhile on.

I went to the field, 30+ miles away, and forgot my transmitter! Only once, but that was one time too many.
Mini Ultra Stick - you'll really like that little plane! It is really easy to land if it is trimmed well.

From what I can remember the MUS was trimmed out to fly hands off. The guy that did it for me said it lands kinda fast.

I also got to the field before without the TX as you said only once.

I'm 62 now and I can tell you that as you age the forgetter starts working better than the rememberer. JT.

"I'm 62 now"

Me too! But I'm as sharp as I ever "thought" I was!
