Collection and discussion of hacks, mods, improvements for KEYCAMS & other MiniCams
If you have a Hack or a Mod or an Add-On (electronic or mechanical)
* additional electronic circuits
* batterie / power supply

I don't have any camera hacks, but will say that the MD80 is great, start with it.
I tried a few different small cameras, all were bad except for this one. I paid $50.

808 - magnet and fuel tube mount
I've used silicone fuel tube CA'd to the camera housing in one instance. It clips front and back to two 1mm CF rods which stretch across my little heli's landing gear.
The idea was to have a quickly attachable/detachable camera which would end up pointing straight forward/the same direction each time.
Unfortunately, the tubing isn't really stiff enough to hold it against the vibrations and it needs at least an elastic band over the top especially in idle-up.
There's possibly more distance in securely fixing the rods to the camera and then sliding them into some tubing or sliding tubing over the camera rods attaching them to the heli. I've not quite made that design yet.
The second method I tried was a couple of 2g neodymium-iron-boron magnets shoegooed to the casing and then a matching pair glued to the heli. I attached them to the other magnets and then put goo on the heli and the back of the magnet. After it cured it actually provides a very solid mount but it's a little too far forward of the CoG and therefore suffers from vibrations/jello.
The magnet mount would be good for attaching to a car/anything steel (careful about scratching the paint though).
Neither of them are perfect but they are very easily fixed and removed and give reasonable video - maybe better if I could really dial out the vibes from my heli.
This video is from my V200D01 with shaved blades and therefore higher headspeed, video is better with these modded blades but flight characteristics and times are not - especially with the extra weight of the camera.

Cheap an easy to build vibration damping mount
I wanted to have a mount that I can attach securely and also damps the damn vibrations on my motorbike.
What you need:
2 M5 screws
2 self-locking nuts
costs should be less than 10 $
How to do it:
Cut 2 pieces of alumium that have the same dimensions and a third one that is the half the length of the other two. Cut out some space for the buttons of the camera and you are almost ready.
Now glue the earplugs between the first two aluminium parts and your vibration damper is ready. The third pice of aluminium will be screw on top and hold the camera in place.
Feel free to add anything you need to attach the mount where you want it. I added another plate to mount it on the footrest of my bike. But you could also use a magnet i.e. out of an old harddrive to stick the mount to any metal.
A comparison between velcro and the earplug damper with the #3
Also works just fine with the #16

I am thinking to use some mini USB connector to "Mount & connect«" the camera in the car.

808#16: Half of a solution and half of problem...need some info/help
I successfully assembled one of the MintyBoost:
If the LiPo of my 808 #16 is emptied it is possible to use this charger as
an external power supply -- I was able to record over one hour of video
until the SD card was full.
It is also possible to charge the camera if the LiPo is emptied -- but it stopps charging very soon.
When connecting the camera to the PC then, charging continues i.e. the LiPo was not fully charged by the MintyBoost.
If the LiPo is only partly discharged, it is no problem to charge it with the PC, but
it is not possible to do the same with MintyBoost.
MintyBoost offers 5V at 500mA. I measured the voltage and it is ok.
For all tests the same USB-cable was used.
Now I am a little bit off ideas...
Since 5V/500mA is exactly according to USB standards I dont know how to convince MintyBoost to charge my camera or to convince the camera to accept MintyBoost as a charging/external power supply if the LiPo is partly discharged.
Any idea is heartly welcome!
Thank you very much in advance for any

I am not good in electronics but maybe you can ask if you can use another micropower boost instead of LT1302, to provide 1A not 500mA.
Mount & Safe «
Easy assure your camera in 2 seconds.
Or if you use some tic tac box you can use it and also assure the "treasure".
