Hot-wire cutter variable power supply
Variable power supply for hot-wire cuttter. This consists of a 350-watt variable-voltage Variac driving a step-down 120-watt transformer. The transformer has been equipped with a two-position switch to allow the transformer output to be configured to 12VAC/10 amps (for cutting with short fat wires) or 24VAC/5 amps (for cutting with long thin wires). All this equipment has been carefully packaged in a metal chassis that would make your UL inspector swoon.
