Building a light board ???

Has anyone built a light board that can discharge 7.4 - 24 v batteries . and possably be able to adjust the current flow by useing a dial or knob........

that was interesting reading , thanks for that info ....I am leaning more to useing light bulbs to drain the batteries and avoid exessive heat and bright light effect that he mentions by regulating the current with a type of rheostat . or something like that........

I think I have worked out most of the bugs so far but I am now stuck on versatility.....I am not sure how to bring the voltage of lets say a 4s 5s or 6s down to around 12v in to safely operate my system ... it is probably something simple like an in line diode or resister before input . thats where I am stuck......

A couple options.. 7812 linear regulator, but it would have to be switched out when using less than about 15v. You could also use a resistor voltage divider. That would make lower voltage batteries discharge slower, but you should be able to have one of the resistors be a pot and you could adjust it that way. There are lots of options, in part because the load can handle a wide voltage range.

You could also skip the bulbs and use a power resistor instead. That would be able to handle any battery if you got a really high wattage unit.

Better than light bulbs, good for up to 36 volts.
