WOW! This is it! Looks like it has everything: brushless, shaft driven tail, carbon main shaft (I hope). I was going to get the 300x but now, I will wait on this one!!!

The tail drive looks like the same used on the Walkera 4G6. I hope the little pinion gear doesn't strip out as easily.

Looking at the photos, it appears that the drive gear for the tail is separate from the main gear unlike the Walkera. There is another ring gear up higher that drives the tail shaft. This will probably be the only weak spot in an otherwise perfect heli.

Main rotor diameter is approx. 3 inches bigger compared to the MCPX.

They don't look like the same servos on the MCPX. Hopefully they are faster.

WOW!

Blade comes out with something that Walkera basically debuted more than a year ago ...

... that really IS an achievement

sort of agree, and i highly doubt it will outperform the v120. but i really wouldn't mind giving horizion a shot, but they are far behind and release a heli like every 3 years.. i would like to see them seriously compete with walkera.

go "balls to the wall" stop using these outboard linear servos and put a outrunner not inrunner.. right now i would much rather buy another 120D02S that cost $170 than this.

edit: another discussion thread.

Since they are likely to have the V120D02S in their lab for some time, there better be some improvements. I suspect it will be more powerful than the V120D02S and its FBL system more capable of advance 3D. I would be interested to see the price list for parts. I think my LHS will be wary of carrying it over here because of the price.

It is pricey as compare to V120D02s. Only $100 difference, I may think about 300X instead and keep V120D02s.

As impressed as I am with the 130X.....My $$ is still on the 300X...
About the same price.....and the 300X has a belt-driven tail....
The 130X's gear tail is a deal-breaker for ME.....a potential "Achilles Heel"..
For me, a belt-driven tail is much more forgiving.....
It'll be interesting to see which comes out in "Mid-June 2012" FIRST...
The 130X...or 300X.....!!

Does this thing cost as much as a Trex 250 flybarless?

Also, the BeastX seems to have something called Piro Compensation, where the swash will correct for yaw movement. The 300X has BeastX.

The AS3X in the mCPx does *not* seem to have this Piro Compensation (or does it?)

So, will this 130x have piro comp? It's using the AS3X instead of BeastX. The BeastX alone could be worth the extra $100(?)

Is it going to be too fragile in the tail gears?

It has brushless (mCPx brushed), but wouldn't some cost be saved by using a brushless tail instead of gear driven?

Looks like it flys great....how does it crash?

the v120d02s is a piss poor 3d heli, great for learning the basic flip roll and what not but thats it..

horizon obviously isnt listening to their customers, side mounted antirotation guide?????

I really dont understand why Blade would use those cheap servos. I dont really like the look of this heli to be quite honest. I do like the v120do2s and I just went and looked at the new blade 450x and the 450x will be my nexy heli...that is a solid heli.

With all the local Blade parts support I need less than 10 mins down the road and 3 other shops in town also carrying them... I'd say so

... that's the biggest reason I've never even looked at anything Walkera.

Hmmm, interesting. I honestly don't understand why they used linear servos, I've never liked them on any of the heli's I flew with them. It was understandable on a heli that only has room for a 3 in 1 but not on a 120ish scale.

I do like the underside mounted tail link and the links with the curved bits in them. I wonder if that's their version of a servo saving mod?

another blade heli in the not availabe yet catagory

the out of stock heli listings at Blade keeps growing, most announced but not released yet. How about a FP or CP tandem with tri-blade flybarless. H-46 Navy SeaKnight would be nice.

I like it and have to have one but wow that's a price tag when you consider I just paid that for my 450 3d from the LHS. Maybe It won't blow out the tail every other move like my mcpx.

Hmmm, tail gears. Better stock up on those.

Great job Horizon! Excellent looking helicopter. Don't listen to all the losers who don't know how to fly so they just bag every helicopter that comes out. This is what we have been wanting and it looks awesome!

UPDATE:
In complete contradiction to my earlier post.....I just got back from my LHS...
Pre-ordered.....the 130X....and a couple of the new 2s batteries!!!
The batteries are EXPECTED out by 4/22/12......we'll see!!
Yeah...I got to thinking (dangerous, sometimes!!!) if the 300X and the 130X are both due out the same time....I've already got the 450X to fly outside....the mCPx for both in and out...so, for me, it just made more sense to get something I could use in OR out...with the 300X, I'd be stuck in the winter with no place to fly!!
So...now it's wait and see......
Meantime......I've got the other 2 helis to pass the time!!!

Walkera has 10 or 20 models for everyone elses 1. I'm sure Walkera is sold in most LHS thruout the world, but for those of us in most of the US it would be mail order only. After buying 4 Walkera's with no cust service and expensive take your chances mail-order part support I started buying the Eflite/Blade heli's that are supported locally and have great cust service with just a phone call to HH.

Oh man, FINALLY they listened to us! We've been clamoring for this ever since the mCP-X I'm definitely in for one, I've flown the rotors off my mCP-X and still love it for backyard sport flying. The 130x will still be small enough for the backyard, but should be big enough that I can see what the heck it's doing in inverted flight better. The tail may be shaft-driven, but I am SOOOOO glad it's not a separate motor. And it's nice to see a brushless on this one too! Yippee! Now for the waiting game and the ever-moving HH release dates

You say that as if it's a bad thing. My shaft driven collective pitch tail rotor works flawlessly on my V120D01 (when the servo isn't twitching ).
Extremely smooth performance. Don't crash and you won't strip gears.

On my Walkera helis, landing on grass was enough to strip the tail drive gears. The brushless motor spooling down was enough to keep the blades spinning when on the grass.

Three solutions.

1. Don't fly on grass

2. Don't buy a tail shaft drive heli

3. If you do buy a tail shaft drive heli, do your best to install some type of slipper clutch.

Agreed. Bring a car-mat with you to the field, for take-offs. Catch the heli with your hand for landings, or cut power a couple of inches above the ground.

Hey just get a butterfly net to catch the heli. on the way down or a catcher glove can do the trick LOL. Best Regards.

Too expensive for what it is. For that price I would expect a CF frame normal servos (not linear) and an outrunner motor.

Think you all might have to buy him a 130x if you want him to make a slipper clutch.

An electric tail can actually work quite well if it uses a variable pitch tail rotor like a shaft or belt driven tail.

Inrunner though, not outrunner.

It is down to $240 at Ampdraw models. But the main issue for me is that I would have to get a DX6i for it. The linear servos should fix the stripping problem of the V120D02S. So that is actually a bonus if you don't mind the slower response of linear servos. You are also looking at a more powerful 2S system and probably a better FBL system for 3D flying. Otherwise, I don't think it will be anywhere near as durable as the MCPx. I will be watching it closely, it is possible that no vendor will import it to Hong Kong. If it is imported, I would be expected to pay full price for it.
