Ceres w/ kst servos

Well after having this model sit around the shop for so long that even my friends disbelieve that i own another ceres. here we go.

Its your standard f3f model with a hook for those days when i feel like launching it from my bungee..

Gear well the interesting thing was I've set this thing up twice already, but never glued anything in. wing servos are going to be the KST125 and in the fuse KST115 both can be found at alofthobbies.com, battery is going to be flinstone technology 2/3 AA 1500mah nimih pack.

The goal is to have it air worthy by this Friday

Here are some pics

Let us know how you get on with the KST's as the 3 people I know in the UK who have installed them have all removed them now ....one out of a crashed airframe as the elevator went into a mind of its own as did 2 previous ones on the bench , this was symptomatic of another install by somebody else aswell ...........

All servos and airframes have service spans; I've seen Hitec's, Jr's, MKS and Airtronics go bad. Some have stopped working right after I installed them in a wing, some won't center for beans, I've even seen/heard of servos frying in sealed composite wings ouch! So we all gamble on gear. At least it's not costing me 300+ $ to find out.

The bench testing I've done on them is telling me their worth the shot. Time , torque and centering will tell the tale.

I'll post finding.

I used 4 DS125mg in my PIII wings:
- one of showed an hysteris on the center resulting in 4 to 5mm difference on flap center depending the last order was up or right. I 'll try and get changed, we will see if there is a good customer service.
- one of them on the aileron shows a delta in centering: sometimes it is inline, sometimes it is 1 mm down. I had this kind of problems with Futaba 3150 too. I have no idea where it comes from, but you just need to trim it before the flight.

appart from that, they work nicely; good centering, speed and power seems equivalent to 3150, and gear slop is minimal.I'll see if I didn't comme upon a bad batch, as I have ordered enough for my 2 toba.

the DS115mg for the elevator looks great, no trouble so far; very fast, good centering, minimal slop.

Sam the pictures look like a dry fit. Have you completed the install yet and if so how did you fix them to the wing? Servo tray, tape and glue, no tape and glue, etc

I've picked up a set of 5 KST DS115s for a soon to be built Genesis.

They will be attached to wooden frames. Getting aluminum to adhere to glass or carbon can get tricky. Post pics on the genesis thread.

Worked on it a bit today, but
Are an error on grinding the clevises so a trip to the lhs is needed for 2mm clevises and rods. Dang it

Powered on it bit more after getting the new clevises.

Set up the flap and aileron linkages. Installed it all a nd measured all my throws, thinking I was ready for some adhesive. Wrong! I didn't have the travel I wanted at any of my surfaces....so I disassembled it and put it away.

I had to tend to more pressing matters, like getting ready for a f3f race today. I was looking forward to maiden yesterday, but these things cant be rushed.

I'll head back to the bench tomorrow and finish her off,

More pics coming...

Work needs to realize that I have more important things to do, like building a model...
Need to build and fly, but if I need to make a choice it's flying. TS are coming up and I need the practice.

Finally got to work on her. Found I didn't have the travel like in the flaps or ailerons so looking to see where the fit is tight. Carefully removing material then checking and so forth. Will post pics tomorrow of what I hope is a finalized model and curing.

I haven't put her on a scale yet to see where I'm at with weight.

Lunch break/ status;
-Ground wooden servo frames flush to servos
-All surfaces have travel desired
-Ran each servo for 25 minutes @ 5.8v
-fitting foam block that will serve as a bushing for the push rods
-cycling battery, so it's ready for action.

Pictures coming...
