Wow

[QUOTE=Graham d;21645605]This clip was on the L39 thread - thought it was pretty amazing!!!!

Graham, Thanks for sharing that one!
If only!!! to fly out like that without a turnback, I Wish

Kevin,
Just get your edf out there and fly it slow!
I was at a Electric fun fly last year, flying my f-18 slow.
More than one person came up to me and said; I never saw one fly like that.
Where did you get it?..Battery?.. How much?...I WANT ONE... (before I had one I didn't know you could fly slow with an edf either)
I know with only 40 members, your fighting an uphill battle
Good luck to you!

Thanks for sharing that video Graham. That was beyond cool. Dang, the Russians are ahead of us again!

That's what we need to be doing. How much is HK selling FPV systems for? We need the system where if you turn your head the camera responds in kind though.

Did this one a few years back, all this talk of the Blue Angels makes me want to dust it off again. F-18s doing the diamond formation.

Might could do kits if there is any interest. .

Well, that's not really formation flying. It's one aircraft that looks like a formation.

Castel101, have you thought of the lead flyer calling out a cadence, similar to what the Blue Angles do?

I think it's cool. If there are a group of people who like formation there is a good chance several will like that too.

Sorry if I stepped on your toes, Joe. CB told me today that I was kind of mean. Nonetheless, joined airplanes are not what Ivan's thread here is about. And joined airplanes have been done lots of times.

I know the guys from Norway were flying a formation plane but I got the impression that each of them was controlling one of the planes in the group which is a special challenge.

In any event, it's all good fun.

Now six

We got there!
Six on the take off roll, 5 on the landing.
Blue Angel 6x (3 min 31 sec)

I put some slowmo of the crash at the end of the video clip.

Oh man, if only we had someone recording but me and a buddy were doing parkzone corsair patterns and I ended up with my prop though his elevator somehow. Both were able to land without crashing, mine had half his elevator stuck on the servo arm of an aileron and one of his ailerons was gone with half the elevator gone. Was pretty fun at the same time.

This has to be the BEST EDF formation flying I have ever seen done!!!

This is one of the reasons I got into FPV.

плотный строй контакт на пробеге (4 min 15 sec)

Star Sky (6 min 52 sec)

L-39 FPV flight group (6 min 15 sec)

Have a flyfly hawk I'm going to convert to a Mk127 but once that's done.......

Thanks

dave

The day that we have been fearing since we added the "opposing passes" has arrived. On a windy Sunday afternoon during one of the opposing passes, Lance got out of his "channel" and he and Ivan hit head on. The sound was impressive and the jets were so evenly matched that the debris pretty much went straight down - except for Ivan's battery, which was eventually found about 140 feet away.

Wires were pulled from crimped connectors, fan blades disappeared, and the spring in one of the nose gears unraveled. It's very hard to know which bits of foam belonged to which plane but I'm sure they'll figure it out. Since these seem to be out of stock everywhere at the moment, it seems they have little choice.

Poor Lance had to leave after just a couple of hours at the field due to running out flyable of planes.

It's not bad. Just a little flesh wound. Come back here and fight you coward!

There was no way to figure out which little pieces went to which plane. We put all of them into a bag and Ivan took it home. Whatever he has left over he will give to me. Then I'll see what I can do. Time to start boiling some water.
