As long as I can put in a set of bearing gimbals like people have done with the 9x, I'm happy with it.

unlikely they would have 2 trainer plugs. if im not mistaken thats a firmware upgrade plug. hopefully compatible with the atmel isp standard.

No, they actually did say on Twitter that there were 2 trainer ports. For example to plug a headtracker to one, and a student radio to the other. This would be cool indeed.

Check @hobbykinglive's tweets. It's in an answer to someone. And yes the photo on turnigy9xr.com clearly shows both.

EDIT: Here's the tweet.

what the photo clearly shows is an stk500 interface which is the single minded purpose for this model to exist. as mentioned a few times in this thread today and a few hundred other posts including direct from anthony hand. if that is a trainer port then where it the firmware port which is one of the few features actually known to exist? maybe dual protocol trainer jack but i dont see two trainer jacks.

If it's based on er9x then it's very good. At the least we can all agree that it will be much better than the current 9x firmware!

And, due to it having an inbuilt programmer, if you don't like it you can flash it with the flavour of your choice.

Less bling would certainly be nice.

Anthony has hinted strongly a while back that the $49.99 price won't last long. Intro price only. Get in early for the good price and risk bugs from prod run #1, or wait till the second prod run and /maybe/ get a better build quality product (if there do happen to be v1 issues) with a higher price.

No, it's a Futaba trainer port. Which interestingly happens to have a "Futaba" label next to it. Just like the JR-style trainer port besides it has a "JR" label.

The programming interface likely is at some other place we haven't seen yet.

ok, you are right. i zoomed the photo and its clearly labeled "futaba". i didnt realize a trainer port could have 6 pins too. id still like to know where the 6 pin firmware port is. it would be the only reason id buy this radio.
