Well took the 9XR for first flight, a little worried after first flight. After a landing I had the prop spin up full throttle with no one on the sticks, controller was on the ground, thankfully I was testing on a indestructible SuperCub, it went into a curb and motor stopped on its own, no damage. I also have an annoying hum coming from the Module. I am using Turnigy 9xr (flashed to ER9X) + OrangeRX R610 + Orange RX Module (Set at DSM2 1024/22ms) .... Otherwise it went okay. I am new to the custom firmware and module, so hoping I just missed a setting.

Any ideas why it's acting up? Any idea on the hum, it's obnoxious?

One thing you should do is a mix for a throttle cut switch.

Art Tech doesn't make Fly Sky, but if you buy an Art Tech plane from some places as a RTF they come with Fly Sky TX and RX. My Spitfire from ParkFlyers did. Fly Sky produces the TH9X which is the rebranded Turnigy 9X, Imax, and Eurgle TX's. If a post I read on another forum is correct, they are making the 9XR exclusively for HK.

I have the T-Cut programmed, I didn't flip it when the spin up occurred.

I am more concerned with the obnoxious hum in the module. It makes me crazy!

Check your programming again and make sure you dont have a mix or something set up that would cause the throttle to go full. Check your T-Cut mix and make sure you dont have it set up to be full throttle when off.

If there is a hum coming from the module, that is likely the issue, and nothing to do with the 9XR itself or your programming. Stop using the module.

Im not sure what kind of regulator it uses, but if its a switching regulator, the hum could come from a bad cap or inductor on the output side, or a bad connection to a component etc. on the output side of the regulator.

If you fit a metal handle on the back like most transmitters have you can put a transmitter stand on it. Has anyone tried to fit one yet?

I would think you'd have to buy one with the cross supports on the bottom or a single leg stand to clear the module antenna

I bought one off Amazon to try something like that.

You can't use protocol DSM2 with the OrangeRx module. The OrangeRx module uses the PPM signal from the 9xr, so the protocal PPM has to be used.

The DSM2 setting ( which is serial, not PPM) is used when an DSM2/x module from a Spektrum Tx is hacked in to the Tx.

I think he means that he set the module to DSM2/1024/22msec, not the modulation in the 9XR.
There is a button on the module to choose its operating mode.

I am using PPM. I did a little more hunting and found this guy with the same problem, I am going to pull the module apart tomorrow and see if mine is buzzing from the same spot.

Oh, I see. Well then that is one very badly misbehaving orange module!

9XR Battery

Anyone getting the stock battery? Can you charge it inside the TX? What is the advantage of it as Im happy using my 3S older packs and charging externally. May get a LiFe pack next.
