You are very lucky to have a 9x with perfect gimbals, or maybe you don't know what decent gimbals feel like

you know, i don't even care if they smoother or not, as long as they can replace the ones in my 9x in case they get damaged...

I have an old Futaba tx that I bought new, and still have never used it on anything and those gimbals don't feel too different than both my 9x. Then again you can tighten them on the 9x too. Has anyone fitted bearing on the 9x? I looked but couldn't see that it was possible unless you do a lot of hacking on it I guess.

Actually I sort of take it back, my 9x gimbals are nice, but the DX6i gimbals are a little better.

But seriously, I have just been comparing the gimbals on all my radios & although the 9x is one of my favorites for just grabbing & going for a fly the gimbals feel the worst.

The Gimbals on my 9XR are a definite improvement from the 9x.

I agree with you! The dx8 Spectrum or whatever radios use a diamond type of roundness for what I had seen. NO WAY I am trying to control my birds with a different gimbal feel. and change can mean problems later like bama.... so.....

its just not composable.

Change and Obama = problems is one of the things he is saying.

"diamond type of roundness" could be good or bad. Could mean irregular instead of circular, or possibly smoothly diamond polished.
