I would never buy a radio with a low voltage cuttoff.. prefer to ruin a battery than a model..

Anyway, I think it will be very difficult not to hear this

9x, MegaSound9x Atmega328 based Sound module. Inactivity Alarm (0 min 34 sec)

OK, got the code to work. Now I have a $7 case and $23 shipping. yay.

And now just adding the radio made the case price jump to $11.45. They can shove the radio up their you know what, I have 2 9x's and a DX6i.
Adding the case buddy code was not altered for me because I ordered separetly. Even with the shipping and such it's such a good deal anyways. I know it suck to pay as much shipping as something costs when ordering from Big Red but the end cost is all that matters and it's still so much cheaper than alternatives with better firmware than just about ANY Tx.

we will have to be careful when opening that new 9xr, the avr plug is soldered directly to the board like we use to do...

Anyone know what the AVR connector is? It doesn't look standard.

it's the same connector I use on my 9x's. some programmers use the 10 pin connector.
well, at first glance it looks like they did improve a few things..
I do like the comment on the board.
"Hextronic made this"

P,S. - I would like a nice picture from the main board..

Wow...it really does look like they just took the guts of the old 9x and put them into a new shell. Whats strange is that they took the time to update the silk screen to say Hektronics made this, but didn't take the time to put in a proper connector or test pads for the programming port. I am a little disappointed that they took the programmer port and soldered it in that way on test points of the Micro, but.... 50 dollar radio. You get what you pay for.

I cant wait for schematics and more detailed tear down analysis to surface

Wow.
They did not even do a new board layout with a header for the programmer.

Well, the silver lining is that alternative boards like ersky9x should work. but this radio is turning into a hobby in of itself. Which is fine for some, but I imagine it will be a turn off for others.

The board is not exactly the same as a 9X-v2 but other than the larger VR, the components look identical. Even many of the mounting screws look to be in the same position.

Yea, thats pretty shoddy. It would have been extremely simple to add a header for the programming port pins.

True, but most users will never HAVE to open the case.

There are quite a few differences in the mechanical design, and some electrical differences. It doesnt appear major parts will be interchangeable with the 9X.

There are some layout differences on the main PCB, and the sub PCB are different. However, it is still just a 9X!!!!

It looks like the programming port was a last minute addition considering the way they wired it.
