They pretty much are modeless... you can chose mode 1,2,3,4 from the config menu.

For the hardware side, I'm going to assume it's like most Tx, where you can swap the springs and tensioning thing(???) between the two sticks.

Mode changing was dead easy with the 9x, whether on stock firmware or ER9x. I can't imagine any problem with this one. I have ordered mode 2 even though I usually fly mode 1.

No, you succeeded! I got my msg this morning, and got my order in. So thanks for the heads-up!!

Don't worry about not getting in on the first batch... you're probably just saving yourself hours of troubleshooting for the benefit of everybody that orders from the second batch!

@pope I'm pretty sure mode 1 and 2 only different is how they install the spring.

I guess i will wait out until i know the exact size of the battery compartment and any known bugs.

It should be no problem. I'm doing the same thing with my Vapor and Champ, using the DSM module and my 9x.

I'm so excited about not having to carry two radios around, I'm thinking about getting a fancy case with cutouts for each module. Then when I'm setting up I'll be saying under my breath, but loud enough for everybody to hear me, stuff like "Hmm, what do I feel like today? Spectrum? perhaps with a sampling of FrSky to warm up! I know, how about some long range LRS? What rotten luck, to have so many choices from one radio, I surely pity those poor fellows having to lug two of them around!"

Now I know the error of my ways I'm going to focus on a script for the new 9xr module, see if i can help a few more people out.
