I am buying a skymaster Gripen tomorrow and bought a 120mm change sun 12 blade fan

My motor is the typhoon 935kv that runs on 12s. I think the highest kv they recommend on this fan is 650k, SO since I have a higher kv motor do you guys I suggest I run it 11s? instead of 12s? This motor and 4 blade cs combo before produced like 13-14lbs of thrust. IM hoping to get the same with the 12blade fan but the sound will be great. Please let me know what your thoughts are, also has anyone used the 12blade rotor on 12s yet on 120mm fan?

Inlets to small for great EDF performance.

I had one and while yes EDF is possible (kirk Sonner already did it) Its a turbine airframe that needs a turbine to fly right.

But I guess it does not matter you will crash it first flight anyway so you only need to be able to build it to takeoff.

Also it has a wing spar that goes right through the middle of the inlet.

Its already built, I dont have to build it

RTF minus the turbine. I just have to put my edf fan and motor and esc with batts in it. DO you guys think $1100 is a good deal with retracts tanks servos etc...??

Oh.......well.............it should be a guaranteed sucess then!

I think you should just run it on 12S 60C packs...................I want to see what happenes first - if you crash it or it erupts in a ball of flames.
Hey - We can have a sort of office pool!!!!!!!!

Buy the airframe

Get you recorder ready, start recording.

Smash the crap out of the aircraft till nothing is left.

Post on RCgroups

This way you will save time, money, batteries, esc, fan.

You are going to get the same result either way.

so you have a motor with @ 300 kv too much ...and your using the 12 blade fan ...you'd be better off with a 500 kv motor ...those fan are loaded pretty good ...why would you use a motor 300kv more that what they say is the max???how much does the airfram weigh?

Do you have the 8mm or 6mm motor shaft adapter?

CS12 Blade 120mm\EMP 5055 580kv\12s HM ICE 120 esc (0 min 47 sec)

Did this on busted high Ir bats and 30 usd motor motor link in vid, soak the bearings in some oil...windings temps didn't get above 150 in all the test I did but you're not going to turn the watts into RPMs over 5500 watts on that motor.

Talked Ben at FighterCatRacing.com to get us some 540kv SUPPOs and he's got some in stock at 55usd...I'm really busy...otherwise I'd test them.

If you have a 6mm motor shaft adapter HK has a 500kv larger than 5055 stator that's around 50 skins...

X-Flight put around 9000 watts through that fan, pegged their meters and caused a small tornado with a 800kv scorpion...I'm impressed with Scorpion\Hyperion motors after seeing that.

Send out a request on helifreak, RCG, RCU, RunRyder for one if you don't want to pay out the nose.

PLEASE PLEASE reinforce the motor mount with 1/8" wood if you're going to run watts like that.

Scats did around 16-17 lbs at around 4500 watts pack peak with a scorpion 530 IIRC, I'm going to test a 510kv align 700 tonight...just epoxied the wood reinforcement to the motor mount

Come Sherlock, building is part of the whole experience...

You have a Falcon 120?

6ft long jet, 5'3" built up wing span and begs to be blinged out...150 shipped to Nor Texas from NP

I am using the 560. Good luck getting it to run right, and please wear a face shield and stand back. I got lucky and my first one runs like a top. I am working with a machinist right now to get some adaptor plates made up to work with the stainless collet the truturn makes.

Nobody takes you seriously, you are just entertainment value. You ask for help, but never take anybody’s advice from many that truly know what they are doing. You usually smash up a perfectly good aircraft.

Since you have only flown foamies, you do not appear to have enough flight experience for these heavy wing loaded models you keep trying to fly with the same result, CRASHED.

You need to prove you can fly an aircraft even if it is foam from a runway and land back on it again. Fly both a right and left pattern.

If you really want to fly big EDF’s nothing is more important that experience at the sticks.

You should build a Falcon 120 as a prop job. You have a simple but complex plane to fly and prove your skills. Retracts, Flaps, etc, the same skills you will need to fly large EDF’s.

You prove you can fly this bird, from a runway and land it with flaps, maybe people will take you seriously. If not you will be nothing more than just fodder for the entertainment for RCgroups.

Your choice, decide.

Sherlock, you already have the motor HK has the 4 blade fans shipped for 40 bucks.

Since this plane has been flight proven just make sure you have the CG correct

Good luck dude

Got the 6mm motor shaft and it balanced out after a few turns of the rotor this time...same with the HK 4mm on the cyclone motors.

Hopefully they've tightened up the shaft adapters
