Hitec x2 400?

Hi all,

Any word on the x2 400? I'm really looking forward to this charger, but I will have to purchase it through eBay by May 3rd if I'm going to purchase it at all due to having to use eBay bucks to get it.

I've noticed some RC sites (such as this one. ) that are doing preorders are saying mid-April. Is that true?

Thanks,

Brandon

The chargers are due later this month but unfortunately I don't have a specific date at this time.

Thank you for the reply, Mike.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on an x4 80 for now, but I'm still excited about the x2 400. I'll probably pick one up a bit later.

There seems to be a lack of info about this charger on the Hitec site. Horizon lists in the specs 11-18V DC input voltage. Is this really not going to take a 24V input?

No, it does not need a 24v power supply but will require some serious amperage if you'll want to charge dual 6S packs at 20A... I think at least 60A!

I think its kind of cool that it will do that amount of power at a lower voltage. Makes me not have to use 2 power supplies in series. Just one converted server power supply will do.

Except if you are one of the many people who have two 500W server power supplies in series to give 24V / 42A. Usually cheaper to do two smaller in series then it is to do a single at higher amps. And better if charging 6S batteries since you don't have to upconvert the voltage so much.

It can easily go either way. Right now you can get a power supply that will do 74 amps on 110v or 106 amps at 220v for $20 or less shipped (HP Part #406421-001). I paid $10 for my slightly older PS that does 55 amps on 110v.

Tower says late May. Guessing it's whenever the boat happens to come in from China this month.

Well, they've hit Tower. They're also on eBay, for an absolutely absurd price.

I have 3 6S 5000mah packs for my Trex 550. Will this charger at least charge them at 1C with either a deep cycle marine battery, or the 350w 25A power supply that I have at my house?

Absolutely! That's only 111 Watts per battery so you could even charge at slightly higher with the power supply and probably up to 3C with the deep cycle battery.
