Need a new platform. Advice on zepher build?

Alright. Ive officially out grown my hawk sky with grayson MJv3. Its great but it cant take the weight of a fully loaded fpv bird. Well it works and launches fine but it rolls sluggishly and stalls easily when loaded with full osd, 2600mah bat, fpv cct cam, and gopro.

So I'm moving to a wing platform. here is the catch. I cant spend much. So a rightwing zepher is out. I mean seriously $120 for molded foam kit that I have to spend days building? That just seems silly to me. Plus I cant afford it. lol

Anyway my choices are to buy a cheaper kit or build one from scratch.

I came accross the Great Wing Slinger wing kit for under 25 bucks

Im not sure on the airfoil but at that pricepoint It would be cheapr to buy this than cut my own wings from blue foam.

As far as cheap goes this seems like it would do. A slinger is apparently 47" wide with their center section. While thats not quite 54 of the rightwing, I could always add a larger center section to give me more area if I wanted to. With winglets and such would you think this would make a comparable aircraft to a RW Zepher?

What would you power it with?

Any suggestions would be awesome.

Thank you!

What you're proposing would probably work but you'd have to come up with a lot of the misc. hardware to complete it. A way to mount the motor is the first thing that comes to mind when I look at it.

Have you taken a look at MWCores or Crash Test Hobby?

MWCores really only sells wing cores and not the misc. hardware required to complete the kits.

Crash Test Hobby sells a complete wing kit minus the electronics.

Not trying to talk you out of what you're proposing, just list off some options.

Hey thanks, im completely ready to fab everything I need to.

I can make the spars. The center section from blue foam or just blut the nose for gopro install. I wouldnt mind if it were smaller as I would like to break it down for travel.

What would I need to push a 40-50" zepher with a 4kmah 3s, gopro, vtx and lrs?

I'm flying the Crash Test Hobby Deep Reaper XL and it's slightly larger than the 50" you're looking for so I can't tell you exactly what you'll need but I am running the recommended setup.

9 x 6 prop
1400Kv motor
60amp ESC
HS 82-MG servos

I am also running a 3s 4350 battery for my main, and a 3s 850 for my video. I run a GoPro as well as an EagleTree setup with it's own camera for OSD.

If you take a look at the Crash Test site you can click on the "Recommended Parts" tab to see what they list their preferred parts.

With my setup the Reaper is capable of flying well but it's not designed to be a 3D machine. You may want to tweak your setup depending on your flying style.
