An Airplane Made of Chicken Bones ?

I got a crazy idea tonight. Go to the butcher shop, get a bunch of chicken bones, bleach 'em out and make an airplane out of 'em. Make it look sort of batty and use clear covering. Sure would make an interesting conversation piece.

Hey now,
Articulating bones is a serious hobby and business in some quarters. A lot of goth types and steam punks are into exactly that kind of thing. If you're talking display pieces. I don't know of any body making flying models that way. Anyway you should be able to get a bunch of info about cleaning and augmenting bones as well as how to attatch them.
Many folks do straight articulation but plenty others are into chimeras and gaffs.
Have fun with it. The hobby is all about playing around isn't it?

Put an airplane made of chicken bones on a display table along with all the others. People will do the robot dance around it. Whaaaaaaat ? BTW, today is April 1.

Actually bird bones would be a natural choice for airplane parts. For example you could make a nice set of landing gear legs from chicken or turkey leg bones.

Why not just remove the bones in the body and let the wings dry open and install the gear in the body using wing warping. Pusher prop of course and red LED's in the eye sockets.

But, ......but, .....but....., chickens can't fly , You'd be making a chicken boned.... car.

Wasn't there an American car that was often referred to as a 'real turkey', so It looks like that has already been done, sort of,

Someone has already made a 'foam' chicken -

And the thread - 3D funfly chicken

Naaaaaa, it needs to be made of real bones. I was watching another wild animal show when this idea came up.

I also would maybe like to make a chair with cow skulls for arm rests and the seat/back from cow ribs. Of course the legs would be made from leg bones. Put a lamp up high on the back made of backbones.

I get all these ideas but I'm too sore to do the work. I guess I can't have my snake and eat it.

Here, you could sit in this and make a bare bone airplane. Or write scary stories.

How about installing an edf in a duck or chicken carcass? The wings would need a little work since the butcher always defeathers them.

I'd think the feathers may ok to stay. Might work well for a micro plane, a wing made of wild turkey feathers.

I think the turkey bone landing gear would be a big scene at the club. Maybe they'll even get mad and say get that thing back on the ground so I can fly without laughing.

Chickens dont fly very well, you'd be better off using duck bones--a bird that can actually fly.

How about eagle bones? They fly even better than ducks.

I've got a couple balsa planes that now look like a pile of chicken bones.
