I'm in for the mount, tell me how to proceed.My Vtail will be fpv stuffed soon.

I've just installed serial gps on my fc. 1 There's a huge behavior difference depending of your vtail parameter for GPS.

Compensations needs to be setted up for all axis if you want a good gps pos hold.
That's sound logical, because if vtail can't turn on one axis at a time, Multiwii will try to compensate all those unwanted roll/pitch/yaw. And it will always behave badly.

For those who already patched, in Output.ino:

replace :

int vtail4Thrust;
vtail4Thrust = (int)(sin(VTAIL4ANGLE));

by

double vtail4Thrust;
vtail4Thrust = sin(VTAIL4ANGLE);

Is the Ntm 28-30 750 motor plenty for this?
I've seen the current used motors chart.
But not sure on this model.

I'd go a bit higher kv unless you plan to run 4s. I have 850kv on the 500 and you need a min of 10" props on front with 3s.

@flitelab:

In post #636, you show the vtail on a heli landing gear. What size gear is it?

Thanks in advance

Those are Gaui 550 gear. Just about any 500-600 sized gear should work.

Ok, help me with my numbers here... I had some 2822 1450kV motors laying around before I ordered my 500. The KV seems high, but the calcs online look like it should work on 3S. Instead of 10", I'd run 9" props. I'm at 6000' ASL, so things are a little different than you sea level folks.

eCalc comes up with 206W per motor, 39 Oz of thrust and 19.48A (full). If I drop down to 8" props, that goes to 15A, 160W and 32 Oz.

Now, my hesitation is that most people are running 10" props and 800-900 kv motors. But, the math looks ok to me?

Edit: I should add I am planning no payload, just sport flying.
