I don't get you. How do you manage different speed rotation per prop here ?
Or do you plan to use variable pitch props?

Variable pitch props.

I started a new thread so I don't hijack DialFonzo's thread. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...0#post22023429

Hi
I am new to this thread.
First of all - very cool frame !
But please tell me - what is the advantage of this motor configuration over normal quad, beside being super-cool ?

Hi guys,

I definitely love that frame.
Are you planning to release a nano version of it, 20-25 cm?

Thx

Easiest frame to maintain orientation, best YAW response.

And yea - the super cool factor doesn't hurt

I was looking to release a mini version. I just didn't got enough time to finish it.
If you run the thread you will see a render of it.

I will put some time to finish the setup on my new cnc.

Just received 2 500mm frames, one for me, one for a coworker. We live at ~6000 feet above sea level. Curious as to what motors are being used for 10" props. Open to both 3 and 4s solutions.

Thanks in advance!

Imagine getting the family together, take off, punch in a Google address, fly there at a 100mph or two, and manually land just about anywhere. Add a paraglider shoot for safety.
1) How would you control individual RPM to the props. This alone could break your idea; it's only viable over a heli if it is more mechanically simple. 1 motor, 2 drive trains and 2 props is pretty simple compared to 4 props, 4 drive trains and 1 motor.
EDIT: Since you are saying CP props, you now have the CP mechanism for twice as many props as a traditional heli. This is not simpler. Many helis already run on one motor.

2) A guy has already dumped his entire life savings into a flying car similar to a quad on takeoff:
Skycar (0 min 33 sec)

3) 'Simple' is a gross over simplification for building the hardware and programming the software for stabilizing and navigating something large enough to fly 4 people around.

4) Most people can't drive cars in 2 dimensions successfully. I don't want people to add on a 3rd dimension.

I saw a lot of this in engineering school; pipe dreams without considerations for the deatils. Great ideas are easy. Implementation is the hard part.

Ok. I was going to build my own V-Tail... This looks too good, though. I'm in. Going for the 500. I've got a Naze 32, some HK 20A ESCs and though I had 4 motors, I think they aren't going to be quite right... will need to do a little research on that....

I moved this to another thread so as to not hijack Dialfonzo's thread. It is not CP it is variable pitch. No need to control the speed individually just the pitch of the props. The only thing making it a pipe dream is $$. Yes the drawings are rough but the idea is sound.

Paul Muller has been working on his for about 25 years. A lot has changed since he started. Our hobby alone put technology light years ahead of his design.

Man that is going to be over kill on the power. LOL... might just be the fastest V-tail out there with those motors and esc's , probably be able to spin it at a super fast rate.
