I got a chance this morning to try the vtail with the naze32 with vtail config and it is night and day difference from the Y4 config. the wobble is preactically gone. but I am still going to be swapping out the esc's and will get video this weekend.

Did you use Multiwii 2.0 on the Y4 setup before ?

Ok
Was just wondering if there was a different version between your Y4 and VTail config test.

Since from what i know, vtail is only Y4 with some pitch mixing

it did see to have that. but seemed smoother in the turns and more responsive. like in Y4 config every time I made a turn the quad wanted to lose alt, but in Vtail config it stayed very true and did not want to drop.

it is normal , as I explained few post before. As you can see on the mix (the order is ROLL, PITCH, YAW) the YAW on VTAIL mode is less powered. Becareful, the yaw is not a pure YAW you have some ROLL with the YAW (but you can edit it)

Here is the mix on output.ino

ifdef VTAIL4
motor[0] = PIDMIX(+0,+1, -1/2); //REAR_R
motor[1] = PIDMIX(-1, -1, +2/10); //FRONT_R
motor[2] = PIDMIX(+0,+1, +1/2); //REAR_L
motor[3] = PIDMIX(+1, -1, -2/10); //FRONT_L
#endif

ifdef Y4
motor[0] = PIDMIX(+0,+1,-1); //REAR_1 CW
motor[1] = PIDMIX(-1,-1, 0); //FRONT_R CCW
motor[2] = PIDMIX(+0,+1,+1); //REAR_2 CCW
motor[3] = PIDMIX(+1,-1, 0); //FRONT_L CW
#endif

I think you can continue on Y4 mode but decrease the P on YAW PID

Does it seem to work better for you with the different motors. is it a big difference. or just preference.

Mine should be here in the next day or two, but I'm afraid it'll be a while before my ESCs get here from HK. I think it took 2 weeks last time and I ordered them last week. Oh well, I'll assemble the frame and admire it while waiting for the parts to arrive
