BTW - regarding his controller: you may notice he only has one 3-wire jumper going from the radio to the FC. Super clean setup, I think it's called CPPM, but all the signals go through a single signal wire. In some cases, I think a similar trick is possible using a spectrum satellite.
You can use ASSAN or frSky PPM receiver too..

This is not a DIY thing..
DIY would be a G10 sheet and you cut everything..

You just have to look here and take the motor - ESC - Controller people are using and do the same

Take a look at my video. I list out all the components I used. The only thing missing is radio and receiver from the list. This is just my maiden flight. It flies much better now and is more locked in after some fine tuning.

Dialfonzo Hunter Vtail 500mm (1 min 48 sec)

This frame rocks! Aggressive yaw. So aggressive that i actually had to put 25% expo in my rudder (with all rates set to 1.00). Need to tune out some slight pitching in my yaw (or maybe use 9" props in the rear).

My setup costed $345 without receiver, radio and batteries.

Here are the components:

500mm frame
Crius AIO Pro v1.1 flight controller
Multiwii 2.1 Firmware in Y4 config
RCTimer 30A ESCs (simonK flashed)
2830-920kv SK3 motors
Graupner Eprops 10x5
HK power distribution board
3S Turnigy 3600mah/5000mah Lipo

I would classify this setup to be medium/mild. I think it would be good for general flying and maybe FPV. If you want to do the hard 3D stuff, I recommend you go to the 400mm frame with 1200kv motors and 8" or 9" props.

I added some lighting to help with orientation recognition and low-light flight. Didn't realize these LEDs were so bright! The white ones especially.....
