Question
LEOPARD 2845 KV2960 4 Poles Brushless motor

I have been looking for a Brushless replacement motor for a 20t Traxxas stinger in the Traxxas Blast. I found this Leopard 2845 KV2960 Motor with a 1/8 inch shaft listed on ebay. It seems to be about what I am looking for but I can't find the motor in the Leopard Catalog. Every 4 pole motor in the catalog shows a 4mm shaft. Anyone know if Leopard makes a 2845 with a 1/8 shaft? Just wanted to make sure it wasn't a counterfit. Any help appreciated.

All the 2845 motors at Offshore and Leopard Factory site show a 4mm shaft

I checked the Offshore Electric and the Leopard factory site. They show a 2845 with 2960KV rating but with 4mm shaft. There are two listed on ebay with 1/8inch shaft.

Here are the links

Just buy quickly eyeballing it, the ones on ebay look like a 4mm shaft.

Another thing to consider is that you'll have to modify or make a new motor mount to use a 28mm motor with the blast.

I really don't want a four mm shaft

If I buy a motor with a 4mm shaft I'll have to enlarge the 1/8 inch Univeral Joint to accept the 4mm motor shaft.

As far as mounting the 28mm motor in the blast, I can remove the drive and electronic tray from the blast. The entire drive train comes out by disconnecting the drive shaft at the transom and removing four screws. I can then drill two holes 19mm on center at a right angle to the existing 25mm holes to mount the 28mm motor.

Here's the page straight from Leopard Hobby..................If it is a 4mm dia shaft, that's quite odd...................I think its gonna be 1/8", guess we'll see.

Leopard 2 pole has a 1/8 inch shaft

The only motor I saw on the Leopard factory site with a 1/8 inch shaft is a 2 pole motor. They have a 2848 2 pole with a 3.175mm shaft.

^^ The specs from leopard state they're all 4mm shafts... I would bet on it being 4mm. Most of the higher power 28mm motors are coming with 4mm shafts now, all the 4 pole turnigy ones are too. Makes them useless in cars/trucks since you can't get pinion gears for them at all. You can get lots of EDF's to mount to them though, it seems like that's the popular coupler size for the fans.

reply from adds on ebay

I emailed the vendors listing the motors on ebay. I ask them to confirm the 2845 Leopard Motors they were offering had a 3.175mm shaft. One responded and thanked me for pointing out the listing was in error. He said the motor had a 4mm shaft.
