If i made everything allright, it should take not more water than any boat with closed doors. The deck is a complete closed layer, i only made holes (for cables) in rooms that have no opening to the outside. So, if any water enters through the open doors, it should stay in these rooms until the run is done and i empty it out, if/when drying the boat.

The biggest danger of taking water is the seal between the deck and the frame of the hull, where the 2 major parts are joined.

At least thatīs the way i planned it.
Thnks for that explanation. I had forgotten that you do not have an opening in the main deck for the cabin, as the kit does. I went back to the begininning of your thread and see where the entire main deck is removable for access to the motor, etc., as opposed to the cabin opening, as in many Lindberg conversions.

I can see where putting a floor in a cabin space where I want to have open doors should not create a problem with water intrusion. I like the look of the open doors, as shown in the attached photo:

Thanks for the explanation, and for the charts. Beeing them not german is perfect - as itīs a canadian tug, german charts and signs would look wrong for sure.

Thanks, Foo.

Youīre to kind. Until now itīs only some pieces of plastic, we have to wait if i can get her to swim and do her job.......

Hi Reid,

thanks for the nice words. Did someone deleted the pics on that side? 3 ships are clickable (Destroyer, Clematis, Minesweeper), but only the destroyer has pics - the other 2 only show the info text.

I would love to see the pics.

Soooo, here we go again - it took some time, but as we all know the smaller the stuff, the more time consuming it is.

I wasnīt completely satisfied with the smoothness of the running shafts, prop and rudder, so i made small teflon-shims from a big industrial one (2 for the Propshaft and 1 for the rudder) .... and it makes a hell of a difference. First punching the small centerhole matchint to the shaft, and then aiming as good as possible to get it centered in the hole for the outline - i use Micromarks punching tool for this kind of work.

The big and heavy metal searchlight from Graupner was replaced with a scratched one, in real it doesnīt look that bad as on this makro-pics

The mast got itīs lights, too

Iīve made some accurate looking housings from ps and 3mm leds, one pin on the left and the other on the right, soldered to 2 strand of bare cables, which were ca glued as flat as possible to the mast. After that some layers of Mr. Surfacer to blend everything together.

The rear corners of the house got their hose holders (ladder and door were only placed losely to check the look)

And made the stern-light, ca. the same way as the mast-lights

Soldered and bend some railing which i mounted to the ship

As you may notice i did some work to the deckhouse and also some detailing with found parts from model-kits

Originally i hade the portholes a little bit to low, under the seam of the extended hull - but i decided i donīt like that. They were closed and will be positioned more accurate, later.

Added some details in the wheelhouse (from old kits out of my greeblie boxes)

Made the vents from PS-tube and a blob Aves Apoxie sculpt, after itīs cured a serious but carefull amount of sanding is needed

From 0,3mm wire, wrapped around a piece of 0,5mm wire, i made some eyebolts for the coming rigging - and streched the first ropes.

Slowly but steady it comes together. Unfortunately the bigger rings for the portholes are still not available, iīm eager to see it in grey colors.

I have to say i am more than impressed with this build. The lindberg kit makes a cool little toy when RC'd, but this takes her hull to a whole new level.
