Diversity Switching Constantly - Help Im Going Spare!

Hey There - This is my first time here, but hoping someone can pleeease help. I have searched for relevant threads, but none seem to address this.

I have an EE diversity on a pair of 1.2G Rx's with ET OSD Pro Etc. One Rx has stock whip antenna and the other Rx has tuned 8dbi patch.

Both work perfectly when I select AV1 or AV2 (independently) on the EE device. But when I select diversity, the auto switch flicks between each Rx every 1/2 second or so. Image is fine, in fact you can see a slight contrast difference during the move from one to the other, but overall it is as clear as a bell. This phenomenon occurs in my garage and in the field alike, even out to 600mts. (that is as far as I have gone).

However, here is the weird thing... When I set up a pair of 5.8Ghz Rx on the EE using a 5.8Ghz Tx of course, when the diversity is invoked, the diversity is stable on one AV channel, until is has a real need to switch.

On the 1.2ghz setup, I have tried changing AV cables, 1.2Ghx Rx antennas, the 1.2Ghz Tx antenna, but I cant stop it from continually switching for no reason, even at point blank range.

Quietly going insane here in my garage. Please help

If it worked correctly on one set of receivers and not another that points to a sensitivity issue.

Check the bottom of Page #4 of the EE Station Manual for an example of changing sensitivity. Part of page #5 and the entirety of page #6 is devoted to setting up the diversity functions.

The middle of page 6 is the specific instructions for changing these settings.

Best of luck to you,

Rob

Might want to do a quick search... I think I recall seeing this issue in the forum. Is the firmware current?

In relation this problem of the eagletree diversity control switching fast and erratically for apparently no reason, I have finally found the fix!!!! ...and it is not any of the earlier suggestions - although thank you all so much for your help!

To fix this, here is what to do:

1/. invoke the OSD main menu
2/. select osd display settings
3/. adjust "black" setting to between 3 or higher
4/. adjust "white" setting to between 3 or higher

with steps 3 and 4 the main trigger that makes the diversity switch go crazy is having the black level lower that 3, with 0 being the absolute worst!!! You will need play with these yourself to get the best font resolution. For me I liked the black level lower than 3, but it simply can not be set this way, without causing this issue.

it has got me stumped as to why the display settings have any impact of the diversity switch performance - but it does, without any doubt.

in relation to the diversity sensitivity setting, for correcting this specific problem (as when the black level is at zero), it has NO effect on a positive solution.

i lost hours of my life on this fault and I will be stick my finger up eagletrees bum about this!!!

Great find and thanks for posting the fix! I hope EagleTree can look into this issue and either resolve it or document it so more people don't have to spend hours trying to figure it like you did.

Sorry to hear about your issue, and glad you found the solution! That's a first.

Various brands of receivers behave differently with different white/black level settings. We recommend a black level setting of 4 (that's the default setting also).

We've updated the EE manual's troubleshooting section to include this possibility.
