A few more pics of the superstructure taking shape. I installed the front vents, not part of the kit, but it is on the real ship and thought it would add a little more detail.

Hey this is awesome. I have one of these kits also. It's sitting at home waiting in line to be built behind 3 other kits. I will be watching this build with great interest. Your very right in saying that there is not a lot of info on this kit on the web.

Thanks guys for your compliments. This has been my first big build. Also thank you for the information on the vessels names. Never knew it went to the gulf. I will be posting more pics soon.

Here are a few pics of the forward mast that I built from scrath. I install two small motors for the working radar beams and leds for the lights. Upper part was made from brass tubes and rods.

Great bit of work on the mast! Are those radar motors micro geared motors like the ones from Gizmoszone??

Cheers Bruce

Thanks, yes they are geared. They are pager motors with a 25 to 1 ratio gear on top. I tried smaller motors without the gear but could not get them to turn slow enought for radar beams. I have these wired to a varible speed controller.
the upper beam turns slightly faster than the bottom, its gives a great realistic effect.

Hey everyone, been doing alittle work on the funnels. I change them up a bit so they are like the ones on the real ship. Still need to add the grills to the front of them and the side vents.

Also been workong on some of the fittings. I finally got around to getting the davits built and inplace and also the life boats along with the life rafts. Fitted the handrails aswell that run along the sides of the superstructure. With the life boat in place, I did alittle test rigging to make sure they would fall in the right place. So far so good. Will hopefully be going to paint soon!
