I wonder how tired the guy was. It looks like it would be exhausting.

I saw that on Fox too, and think its fake. I just don't see how a heavy human could get off the ground by flapping. Was there a high wind?

You see him flap while running on the ground and then suddenly you see him flying and flapping. I can buy that he is flapping and I can buy that he is flying, I just dont buy that the flapping is why he is flying.

Here's the guy's website: http://humanbirdwings.net/

Apparently, he flaps and a Wii controller sends the signal to a powered drive system. He flaps and the drive moves, so he needs to flap. Still looks fishy with the gap in the video between flapping on the ground and flying, no continuity.

He could have at least had the decency to post it on April 1!

Wonder why God didn't follow his design and create birds with no tails either!

What's really disturbing is the news organizations that are reporting this with no skepticism.

I'll believe it when he finally flies over a car wash and poops on freshly washed cars.

He's got some kind of webbing on his legs for a tail, but he flies first and then extends the tail. Also, in the recent video he doesnt look like he has enough room to flap, takeoff, glide and land before hitting the treeline. Looks like all he did was flap, they inserted the flying part and then they show him landed and he didnt go anywhere.

Amazing how his shadow disappears at 0:34.

Also note this is video part 14 of 14. 14 in Europe is a hint of what this really is.

Well in all fairness the truth is not a driving factor of the 'news' anymore.

Damm now we know why they call them the flying dutch men
That chocolate they smoke its got wings and it make you fly high as a kite.

Kidding apart its a logical move up from using a small propeller engine to drive a hang glider up into the air.

In Holland not known for its mountains and chock a block with people its hard to find a mountain to jump off or space to set up winches or run noisy two stroke power assist motors near to the city like in the local park where this guy flies from

So he makes a electric drive system which might have a few minutes power to flap the wings and using the wings flapping as the replacement for the propeller and like the power assist hang glider he runs as fast as he can and tries to get airborne.
After a short flight he lands back in the park and goes of to chat up the hot chicks that think this feathered peacock is a cool dude

Now that is a park fly toy to bring to your local park

Ralf
