Question
50cc equivelent electric motors?

Hey guys im looking for a electric motor thats the same size as a 50cc motor, meaning same power. Thanks!

The list is a long one, my favorites are Hacker A80's or A60L then there are the new Axi 5345HD's and my ultimate favorite the Plettenberg Terminator 30-8. NEU are also good choices.

cc doesnt =hp output, how many hp from a 50cc size/weight motor do you need the elec counterpart to match or exceed?

I don't know about the calculations but most of the motors listed below will out perform any 50cc size gas motor.

Who makes your Edge and 72" isn't 50cc size

However, keep this in mind, as with all software: garbage in, garbage out.

Don't go for super strength, go for super light

Here my setup for a 78" Sbart SU 29S, final weight including Lipo < 4 kg that is ~ 1.2 kg or more lighter then almost all the other planes in this size.

- Hyperion HS4035-400Kv ( 435 gram)
- Jeti spin opto 99
- Gens ACE 6s 5300 mAh 30C
- Xoar 20x9 PJN ( use a prop adapter from scorpion 8mm shaft of the hyperion )
- 4 x HS7950TH
- CC BEC pro at 7.5 Volt

it runs now on 12 degrees timing and it puls max 115A, engine and ESC are cool after flight.

To me the problem is not the motor as much as batteries. The batteries are heavy and you can only get short flight times without a huge weight increase.

When you get to this size model gasoline or glow engines become a more attractive power source. Gasoline/glow fuel has more energy for a given volume than the batteries needed to fly. You have lower fuel weight/volume and much longer flight time with gasoline or glow fuel. That equals a lighter plane with more power.

I just dislike seeing the cc of a gasser displayed like it has everything to do with power output, it doesnt, its just part of it.
