Rhossili fly in April 21st- video

Phil Taylor has organised a get together of slopers from around the UK, to savour the delights of Rhossili on the Gower peninsular, South Wales in April.

As a local, I put together this video filmed on Monday, just as a taster of the local slope and scenery.

Phil- if it rains the whole weekend, it's nothing to do with me!

Oh yeah! I hope you get Mr. Ellison and Lord Dakin to show as well. Could be some pretty epic flying going down!!

With bated breath,

What a site! Lovely vid Rog.

Just so's you know, the white cottage at the end of the village nearest the Worm (visible between about 1:00 and 1:15) can be rented from the National Trust and sleeps 6.

Or if you're dead organised and plan about 10 years in advance, you can book the even more splendid Old Rectory which fronts down onto the beach (sleeps 7)....

Must get back there someday. The lift was cream.

Forget the Chunnel, it's much more expensive and you have to reserve a position that if you miss for some reason you've lost the fare. The ferry from Calais to Dover gives you a chance to relax from the first part of the drive from Germany. It also gives you a chance to start to get your head around driving on the left side of the road.

If I remember correctly, with the time zone change it will take about eight hours to get from near Heidelberg to about 50 miles west of London. From west of London to north Wales is another five hours or so. However, as long as you're on the way north you should stop on Long Mynd and fly the various slopes there - and perhaps take a full scale flight at the Midlands Gliding Club in an ASK 21.

Best would be to rent a motorhome and make a leisurely trip out of it. Time I have, all I'd need is find the funds...
