15Kwatt "Quad Finned Triptych" Foamy Jet.

Just started on my largest up to date project, pushing the limit and my luck. 15+ Kw foamy jet at 10' 6" x 7' span. The central 127mm EDF unit will be supported by 90mm boosters on each side running on 28S/105Volts/400+Amp current draw combined with 15-17kg thrust. Using only 6mm foam sheets and lot of C/F is going to make this build bit of a challenge I'm really looking forward to. This is not a build log, only few upgrades will be aded about my progress untill my full buid and flying reviews in RC magazines, Joe.

My wife thinks the same of me, but if I don't do something new, different I feel that I'm going backwards in this hobby. I.m really pushing the size limit with this one because of my work bench. 105 volts! I said, combined, 2x8-10S and 1x12S. 5-6kg in batteries but despite the weight this model will be a floater, Joe.

My question is why only 6mm sheets? You can get 1", 2", and sometimes 4" thick 4'x8' sheets at Home Depot. You can use that as your base, then skin it with the 6mm for a smooth surface.

Hi, answer to your question, because it is the easiest and cleanest to work with. 6x6 C/F makes it perfect for laminating to get my strength. Joe.

Working on formers to hold the power unit in place, each fan will have 50cm long thrust tube to get the optimal nperformance, Joe.

Wow is a good comment.
Great size Jofro. Looks good hope it flies as good as it looks. Have a safe maiden.

What is the weight with 8 sets of batteries?

Regards
Larry

Hi, again lot heavier then originally expected! For my maiden I'll will use lighter (40cell combined) 30C/4Ah packs resulting in15kg AUW but despite, its very light w/loaded model due to its huge wing area. 2.5kg in bonding agents alone and there's no way to minimize that, 1/2kg in 8G leads and connectors not mentioning the rest so it all ads up. I believe equivalent size composite build would be twice the weight so I'm still laughing, Joe.
