First scratch foamy build

Here are some pics of my first build. It seems to be working just fine but I haven't yet taken it for its maiden flight.

Ok, I think my problem is I'm on a iPad. Looks like rcgroups only uses flash to upload pictures. Does anyone know how to get around that on the iPad?

You can use the "Insert link" function to post a photo on a website.

If you have the photos on your computer, you click on "Attachments" and then select photos for upload.

If this is your first scratch build, congratulations it looks pretty good better than my first attempt.

Where is your CG? Looks like it might be a little tail heavy... short nose long tail servos behind the CG and large tail wheel might add up tail heavy.

Check your balance at about 1/3 of the major cord from the leading edge. This should get you close enough for tweaking.

Good luck on the maiden and welcome to the addiction.

In second look... it looks like your nose isn't that short so from the picture it looks like your CG might be in the geometric center of the plane so it might be close. Is this your design or did you do it from a pattern?

Prop's on backwards. Flip it over before you fly it or you'll have very little thrust...

Other than that, it looks darn good for a first build. I see no reason why it shouldn't fly (other than the prop). What equipment do you have in it?

I put in it

Moxie Brushless Outrunner Motor 1900KV
Moxie 30A Brushless Speed Controller 2-4S 2A BEC PROFESSIONAL
Moxie Punch Series 20C 11.1V 3S 2200mAh Lipo
8x4 prop
I ordered the prop saver but I couldn't figure out how to get it on. The o ring won't fit over the prop. Any suggestions? Or did I just get the wrong thing?

How did you choose the 8x4 prop? That seems like a bit much considering your motor and battery choices.

Not sure, I don't really understand all of it. What prop would make sense. I did turn the plane upside down to find cg and it was about half an inch in front of the aileron servos. Does that sound and look about where cg is suppose to be

You might want the CG to be a little farther forward. Generally you should start around 30% of the wing's chord (distance from front to back).

Too big a prop will make the motor draw excessive current, which will quickly fry the motor and/or the ESC. Check to see what the manufacterer recommends, and get yourself a wattmeter to keep an eye on the system.

this was my first attempt at building. I started with balsa wood and then found this Foamy Thread and found that it is 10x easier to work with so I think the balsa wood is no longer in my future. lol I never even got any electronics in it. It would have been a really small plane i thing to try and control.

Being a High Wing COG should be checked with the plane right side up , You do flip low wing planes over to check
