It was watching tretch's videos that inspired me to learn tri aerobatics. Definitely need a smaller motor to motor distance for more responsive moves (50-60cm is ideal) but most of your performance will come from a good flight controller like multi wii.
+1 for the t-copter, better for orientation.

Aerobatic advice
Hi Folks!
I have been into multicopters for several months now and have built hexas, quads, and tris. I am hitting a plateau and getting bored with standard flight so I want to do some tricks like flips, rolls, etc, but I need some help getting started. I put together a tri on which to practice aerobatics:
That's all well and good, but still stuck--can some one please help with the following:

Xcelent flying on the 2 videos above. i realy like the t copter when you grab it then throw it. here is my video. keep in mind its in my limited size front yard.
