I agree it's a nice kit, picked mine up at an incredible price at the IMS show . Will be my summer project - but there isn't much to build, maybe a bit of paint here and there ...

Have to make a ring/tube shaped FG mount for the fan, don't like the little wimpy screw mount thing and it will sure make a hell of a noise.

Also my wings will be just plugged in and secured with special JePe tape on the bottom (as it says in the instructions btw), that's what all the glider guys use at my field for their plug-in wings.

Herb, just wrap some 1" wide 1/64" ply or similar around the fan housing and glue this onto the intake duct former. Then tape/use small screws to secure it.

Wingtape works very well for holding wings, have used it alot on sailplanes myself.

Good thing I didn't go to that show. Looks dangerous.

Herb, congrats on the new toy!! I still don't think you have enough jets yet!

Steve

P.S. Haldor, canopies this week!! Sorry for the delay.

If the rear of the fuselage detaches, Ralf's fan mounting system for his El Bandito works well.

midi fan installation

i made up a ply ring as a fan mount. one reason is aeronaut has 3 m3 inserts already for you. the midi fits flush to the former with out a gap.

i traced out the ply ring. then cut slots for the 3 screws. l then sat the fan on some wax paper and applied some 30min epoxy mixed with micro balloons

instructions refer to a placement optimized for bungee/rog.

i'm thinking 25cm from the nose?

Haldor,

Hi, do you have finished the paint job? If you get the "JetPower" magazin you can read a nice article "How to paint a Panther" in a real aluminium finish.

Hi Ralf.

The paint job is still left to do, no in house paint shop and temps have been too low to play. Also for the same reasons its still unflown. Can I come over for the weekend?

Tschuss!
