The CF spar does not go all the way through high wing loading for my bird added spar in center all the war through stoping just before the end and filling the spaces between the spar and the wing with expanding foam foam sand bags used top and bottom to keep wing in shape if needed. over kill ?

battery cooling

How are you going to get air flow over the batteries for cooling?

Battery cooling, have considered opening up the 4 gunports in the nose and have a hole in the intake ducts. The low pressure of the intake will suck air from the fuselage.

I'm not sure its really needed though as the fuselage is very generous in area.

I have no battery cooling on mine, after a 4-5 min. run the FAUP's
are hot but nothing to worry about, after 30-45 mins they are ready to take another charge. My pack is just velcroed to a plate glued to the bottom of the fuselage so it's plenty of room around it when in the plane.

Haldor, Not on this power plant only taxi test.
For cooling the large opening by the front gear, in the photo the batts are in the way they were just placed for the shot, the bottom pack is placed back. The intake by the fan that aggressive cutting that I mentioned opens up so that the fan pulls a bit of air though a 32 mm tube fix with CA in the center hole in the front former?

Power update

I have finally squessed in enough 5min jobs to get the fan all mounted up with the ducts and have just performed the first power on tests.

First tried a 10CP1700 pack to check that the fan is running smoothly, then a uncharged 18x2600 pack was connected:

18V/30A = 600W (off a fresh charge I'd expect around 700W/34A)

Then I peaked two 10xCP1700 packs and connected these in series to get 20cells, hot off the charger this gave me 41A/900W total. However the final pack setup will be 2x 10 FAUP's which are 5,6oz lighter than the CP1700's. These should yield the same numbers and with some throttle management 4-6mins of airtime is achievable.

RTF weight with 20x CP1700's and rx battery : 2,4kg which is a little heavy. With the FAUP's and UBEC weight will decrease down towards 2,2kg (~80oz)

Smooth fan that Schubie....

No more pictures yet but they will come. All hardware is now installed and checked for operation. Only gluing left is the battery tray + canopy.

I ran the rx arial through one of the wings and it will probably exit somewhere at the tip to run full length.

Also got the paints for it today so now I'm just waiting to put the maiden behind me.....
