I picked up 4 chassi from a local guy and he gave me a good deal on it.

-Duratrax BX buggy electric
-Traxxas Rustler electric
-Traxxas Stampede
-HSP bazooka Nitro Buggy (all parts interchange with OFNA)

Those are the 4....the rustler I'll be keeping for spares for my rustler....And out of the other 3 I dont know which one to start with....they all need electronics and wheels/tires...The HSP bazooka he mentioned the parts are interchangeable with the OFNA 9.5 Violator....and he also said something about electric conversion being possible and somewhere online the parts can be found.

I'll probably keep the duratrax but the stampede and the OFNA they have to go....Before posting this on any forums I would like to know are there really electric conversion kits for it?

And lastly, If I find the parts for these out of my budget and decide to let someone else work on them what are they worth? the stampede, hsp bazooka, and the duratrax? rememer there NO electronics at all...not even servos.

that might be a bit high on the stampede, depending on how used it is. You can get a new chassis on ebay $42-47, new vxl trans $30-40. round up for shocks, slipper, odds and ends and you are close to $100 shipped for a new one like pictured above.

Looks like the Novak 5015 is out of stock and discontinued...I dont want to get into nitor so I guess it'll have to go too.

EDIT: Looks like there are a few on eBay 5010, 5013, 5017, 5019, 5069

Will any of those work on the Ofna 9.5? THeres not much information on ebay. But what im trying to figure is which one of those come closest to fit the 9.5? I'm sure im going to have to mod a few things.

You think 80 shipped is a fair price? or lower?

Ok so after researching a little I have found the novak brushless conversion kits posted for the cars they all use a universal chassis. So i've decided to keep the hsp bazooka for now and i'm planning on working on this car slowly. I'll be ordering the conversion kit 5014 in a few days because the motor mounts and the battery mounts are all look alikes in all of the pictures and the chassis seem to have similar screw holes etc.

I have started to look into 1/8 size Motors...and for this particular buggy is 2300kv too high or is it just fine?

Also will a 1/10th scale motor work with is if the KV is low enough?

And the ESC doesnt matter right? As long as it can live up to the motors demand correct?

You'll want the bigger motor for a 1/8th scale vehicle, as well as a higher amp ESC. At a minimum I would say a 3674 motor, but I would go for a 4060 or 4074, and whatever size you want about 2000-2200kv.

You'll need either a 4s5000mah pack, or two 2s5000mah packs in series to run it as well.

*edit* - motor sizes are diameter and length, so a 3674 is 36mm diameter and 74mm long.

Got ya! thanks

the mah capacity has to match ? I cant run 2 batteries with different mah's? If I do I'll have to run a lipo alarm or something for the lower one? or what if the ESC has lipo cutoff it wont detect the low voltage on the lower mah pack?

You'll want to run the same mah... ideally two identical packs. For my boat packs (it runs two 2s in series), I have matched pairs that were bought together and only ever run together, that might be a little extreme, but it makes things more consistent.

No thats not extreme thats smart....will last longer that way i bet.

I want to get a battery with a good size amp putout....how do i determine that?

Is it the discharge rate that determines how quickly or how many amps it can put out?

Lets say If i get a brushless system and I want to get the MOST out of it, I would need a battery that can handle the amps, so what does that really mean like how much amps the battery can put out when fully pressed on throttle?

Ideally you would want your battery to exceed your draw. Current is the amp hour rating on battery times the c rating. 4000mah times 30c gives 120 amp available. You have to divide milli amphours by 1000 to get amphour

For a 1/8th scale buggy, you'll want a power system thats ok with ~150a, and you'll want 40c to 50c 5000mah packs (40c 5000mah = 200a constant if it's a true 40c pack).

Definitely don't under spec the ESC or batteries, 1/8th scale e-buggies can pull A LOT of amps.
